I am Godmother and I am looking for some nice ideas, thoughtful and maybe even bit unique to give my Goddaughter for her christening. I don't mind spending a bit especially for her christening!

Would really welcome any ideas, thanks

You could get her a chain/necklace, something thin and delicate, and a small cross, or a charm - it'd be something she could wear even when she's grown up.

If her family lives in a house with a biggish garden, you could get her a fruit tree, or another kind of smallish tree, something that would grow with her.

Otherwise, you could do like my grandparents did - a little while ago I found an envelope with a note my grandparents gave me when I was christened. Apparently it must have had some money in it, because the note read 'To our granddaughter, this cheque is a present for your wedding, with lots of love'. I'm not ashamed to say I cried.

The fruit tree is a great idea. And to make it even more special I would go for a Heritage variety from Irish Seed Savers. You'll be helping a great cause too.

...as long as they don't live in a tiny flat...
