I did something similar a few years ago. Headed over to Roscommon A&E where they tried to flush it out. Had to go back the next day to the opthalmologist who clamped my head in a frame and poked it out with a hypodermic needle!

I've seen it done for shards of steel that got in the eye of a builder.

Aye I used to see it quite regulary in the opticians I worked in. Surprisingly painless to do (compared to what you'd think) but can be a bit wince inducing. On that, I had a slight accident in work and now Spoiler: I'm missing entire nails off two fingers :o. It's a bit tedious trying to do stuff with them all bandaged up
