Noob needs brakes

Hey everyone,

Iv only been cycling about 2 months - I really enjoy it now despite starting off hating it I just couldnt stop going for spins. I have an old style road bike made of alumnium (its all I could afford) but it does have decent tires and drops even if the gears are ancient and the frame is heavy.

Problem is the breaks on the front wont pull and the ones on the back take a long time to slow me down at speed particularly in wet weather. Iv decided I need to get a replacement set. Where would be the best place to go and how much would they be?

I might need to get them fitted too - like i said complete noob
