It's funny, I've lived in hot places (Chicago in summer, California, Sydney etc) and travelled to many more (Alice Springs,Las Vegas, Dubai) but the heat I felt in the summer of 95 in Ireland seemed far more "roasting" then the heat anywhere else
You are mostly right about those summers. However while August 03 was mighty, July 03 was very wet which is unusual since whatever way July is, August usually follows suit.

As for 06, I remember it being wet but not as wet as previous years. I think 06 was a year that we nearly got a way with a good summer but not quiet. Mind you compared to the previous summers and the summers that followed it wasn't too bad at all.

1976 I think was the ladybird summer, they were everywhere swarms of them.
Anyone remember that?

would associate the summer of 86 with severe thunderstorms, as with the summer of 82.

Also remember 1995, the Britpop summer as I remember, Oasis, Blur, Supergrass, Pulp etc...buying Vox and Select magazines. Buying CD singles as they were like little mini albums.

Funnily enough. I seem to remember 82 being a good summer. Although, yes I do remember some bad weather periodically during it but by in large I remember it being a good summer.

First bad summer I remember was 1985 and 1986 was woefull as you say.

I remember that one, I went to Spain but no TV .. when I got back, the lads laughed .. the weather had been good here and they had seen Nadia Comeneci conquer all on TV. So sickened was I, had to keep and eat the sweets I'd brought them!

I was working the evening shift in Hasbro in waterford in 1995, it was sweltering on the lines, god only knows how hot it would have been on the day shift. It was great being able to walk home at midnight in short sleeve shirts though and still be warm.

I did a lot of walking to clear my head during the summer of 1995.

Late nights usually 12.00 / 1.00am. Couldn't sleep so would walk around Ranelagh, do a circuit between Moyne Road and Belgrave Road. Nearly always in a t-shirt, still warm and smoking a Marlboro.
