    Hey folks,

So what's the verdict on this? It's getting alot cheaper, around 20quid in some places (up North), is it worth buying or maybe just a rent?

I like the idea of having the island to drive around and do as I please but some say the handling is atrocious which.. for a racing game.. is sort of a big deal. Is it a deal breaker though?

    cheers

Wasn't into it but I didn't give it much play time, handling seemed ok better than TDU1 but its no forza

I had it but traded it. The idea is brilliant but very poor execution with a ton of glitches. Going at any high speed made the car a wobbling wreck and impossible to control and a lot of online was not accessible. When I traded it, shop said it was the most returned game they ever sold. Was looking forward to it for ages an all and still want to play it. Thought of it is better than the real thing i'm afraid. (unless patches were released to improve the driving but doubt it)

I think it is a good game. I like the fact that you have both Ibiza and Hawaii to roam. It is not the best racing game out there but its not bad either. Handling is not too bad, a huge improvement over TDU1.

I've been playing this recently and while I mostly love it, it just punishes you with near impossible time trials that are no fun whatsoever. The one in the Ibiza cup and the B driving school in Hawaii are just stupid. Rage quit after 15 tries. Annoyed. Whenever PSN comes back I'm sure the fun will begin.

If you like to drive around nice scenery in nice cars, buy the game. I enjoy it mainly for that. The maps are huge! 60Km from one end of Hawaii to the other. Took me 25-30mins to drive that going at high speeds.

The voice acting and cut-scenes are atrocious but upgrading your cars and houses is fun.

Like Sheehy said the idea is ****ing great. They just didn't pull it off that well.

You can get somewhat used to the driving and do very well but the back wheels spinning out is unavoidable at super-high speeds going around bends.

There's also the dreaded hitting a small bush at high speeds and spinning violently out of control. It's supposed to be fixed up in the new patch. With all it's problems I've been playing nothing else since I got it. There's just something about it.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I saw there is a new update for this, 'DLC 2', that has supposedly made a load of improvements to the game. Anyone playing this with the new patch?

I see it's going dirt cheap these days and wouldn't mind picking it up again if the handling was fixed.

I bought it few moths a go for pennies. I am a pure petrol head and I do enjoy my forza or shift 2, but I have to say this game is a lot of fun!

It's a lot of fun just to race events and then drive to dealership and look at cars :). Them finally choose one and go for a run on some twisty mountain roads!

It had a lot of hate for a very very bad launch! When I played it, it was already very stable. ( pc version btw ) if you like some raving games, but with a little bit of arcade taste and free roaming, then give it a go. It's very cheap these days anyway.
In fact I need to redownload dm thing on my new pc. Finally got an Xbox controller for my driving games and a lot better pc :D

class, might pick this up again so. Although these days I'm finding the thought of playing something is better than actually playing it so hopefully won't be trading it again :)

I don't know how muc are console versions of it, but I bought my one on steam for 10eu. You can do way worse then that for 10eu.
Though I would get new one m8, with online part of it. Just to see other people driving around city makes it more live and fun. It's still sort of single player experience if you want to, just it's a lot more fun to know you not alone driving on that big island.

I was actually trying to look that up but couldn't find much info, is there an online pass? I didn't think there was but would definitely like to go online with it. If there is an online pass, I would def get it new.

  • Registered Users Posts: 22,929 ✭✭✭✭ShadowHearth

I am not sure, but I am 99% would think that there was online pass. You need to make an account with Atari to be able to go online. I can't remember if they asked cd key.
Did you checked play.com etc? You should get new copy of it quite cheap.

I'm only seeing it for 20 quid (saw it cheaper on pc) was hoping to get it cheaper than that for ps3, will keep a look out.

Haven't played DLC 2 yet, but will soon enough.

I don't really get all the hate for the game either. I'm not a massive driving game player, but I really enjoy TDU2.

The map is huge and varied, good selection of cars, it's visually beautiful, and the races and challenges in particular can get really tricky.

If you can get it cheap I'd definitely recommend it.

I got this again but for some reason, it couldn't find my old save file so had to start a new game even though by doing so, it said it was deleting my old save file. Ah anyway, the handling has been improved alright but playing on Sport handling so will have to experiment with full assist and hardcore. Having your car bounce off a small pole or hedge is annoying but I spent an hour driving around doing absolutely nothing, was class! I really wish I could use custom music on the radio tho. Stuck with the Lancia Delta for the time being, looking forward to getting some proper wheels like that Farrari at the start.
