Hi everyone!
I'm just recently qualified as a pharmacy technician.I have been offered a part time job as a pharmacy technician but they are paying me minimum wage and I'm just wondering is this legal considering I am now a fully qualified technician?
Just want other peoples opinions on this

As far as I'm concerned the minimum wage is the legal minimum .

The Medical Sciences forum would have folks better able to answer your question.

yes it is completely legal, if it were below the minimum wage, only then it would be illegal. having a degree does not entitle to you a job, let alone a higher wage than the legal minimum. in fact, in Joan Burton's Ireland, many positions just like that one are being offered as internships instead of actual jobs. the only thing that will get you a higher wage is to have proven expertise in your field and be in a high demand area. many graduates can't get a job here at all, which is why so many are emigrating.

...even in the job and make no secret about it. When your experience grows and you become more desireable to the competition be ready to jump ship at the earliest opportunity. Learn as much about the job as possible and ask as many questions as possible. Because of the low wage I'd concentrate on learning as much about the business for your own development and benefit rather than making big efforts to push the employers agenda.

Unfortunately,there is a trend for employers to expect newly qualified graduates to work for next to nothing for a year or more so min wage is "better" than nothing.

Identify a particular set of skills in high demand and learn them and keep hunting for a better paid job.

If your Recently Qualified just take the Job and You can use it as experience to put on your cv next time you go for a job. and you might get a higher wage
