Problem with Guitar

    Hey all, I have problem with an Epiphone Sheraton. As far as I can tell tuning the guitar to standard concert pitch and tuning it to play a solid open E are two different operations altogether. The problem seems to be with on the G string in the first fret. Is this a neck / Fret problem ....is there anywhere in Dublin I can get it repaired? I have had it for about 8 years now and I like the bassy clean sound I can get out of the neck pickup but impossible to gig in current state. Also I use heavy set strings 11s or 12s could this be a possible cause?
