Hi Ladies , Iv just been reading another thread about the difference between a beauty therapist ,beauty specialist and a beautician and wondered what am I.

I am ITEC qualified in Skincare and eye,Waxing, nails, tanning, tinting and electrolysis.
I failed my massage theory exam (such a hard exam props to all the ladies who passed first try)and did not re-sit it this was back in 2007
Last year I went on to get my advanced electrolysis, Microdermabrasion, IPL & Laser for skin treatments and hair removal. This was a fully accredited course not just a day course,I also hold a certificate for hot stone massage which was a one day course but I was told after by the instructor of the course, since I did not have a massage qualification (eg ITEC) that it was worthless, however my employer at the time booked me carry out regular massage (not hot stone) on clients as I have the technique since my training back in 2007.
    I hope this makes sense...
So I am not quiet sure where I fit in ,
If I was applying for a job would I go for a spa or a regular salon or something completely different.

I would love to hear you opinions on this. If you feel there are other courses I should do to make me more appealing to an employer please let me know. =D

If you're not qualified in body then you're a beautician, and Id say youd be better off sticking to the salon as spa is a lot of massage and body treatments

AFAIK, without facial electrics and massage you're a beauty specialist. Extra add on courses (such as lashes, brows etc) make no difference. When you have the full rack of diplomas (beauty specialist, facial electrics, body therapies, massage and electrolysis) you're a full beauty therapist.

You can call yourself whatever you like.

There's no legal definition to these terms here but some people feel that therapist infers hands on body treatments.
