Hi missed out on getting Wacken tickets and seriously considering heading to Hellfest for 2015.
Waiting for dates to be announced but wondering if anyone can advise how they found it this year, camping, atmosphere, tips... thanks, Mick

Was my first year there this year and loved it. Brilliant atmosphere, camping felt safe out (we were a big group though so maybe that had an influence on that), festival area and supermarkets a handy walk from the camp site.

Thought the stage layout was really good.

Downsides - seemed to be queues for everything (waited almost 2 hours for a shower one of the days)

Be aware all the nearby supermarkets close on the Sunday.

Ill definately be going back, great festival overall

Went this year and thought it was great. Massive variety of bands and great atmosphere in general from all the people there. As poster above said, supermarket with all you could ever need (tents, food, beer, clothes etc.) is a 5 min walk from the front gate. All the Irish were in the yellow camp this year and we had some great sessions in there. The metal market in the festival is amazing too, every band shirt and album you could ever want in there.

Only negative was how cramped it was. Probably too many people there for the size of the festival area, and it seems to be getting bigger every year. You could easily be waiting 30 mins in a food queue, an hour for the bathroom, over an hour for showers and a whole ****ing day to use the phone charging stations (I was never actually stupid enough to do this). Best bet is to buy food at off-peak times of the day, **** in the bushes and use the secret phone chargers by the showers. If you wanted to see one of the headlining bands you'd want to be there at least an hour before to get a good spot.

Thinking of going for 2015 but not mad on the camping side...

Anyone recommend accommodation that's within easy distance to the festival site?

Would be 4-6 of us sharing.

I see the pre-sale tickets went very fast this morning, sold out instantly... :(

Do any Irish bus tour companies run a bus to this?

If they can fit them on a fancy cruise ship then a bus shouldn't be a problem :D
