Lots of garda activity on Delwood Walk at that time too, didn't hear anything definite but at the end of the cul de sac seems they might have tried a house there too.

Glad they were caught, thanks for the update! I was also amazed by the response, blue lights everywhere.

There was a black Opel Coursa acting suspiciously in the Glenville area, 4 guys approaching houses just before 8PM. Guards were called and within 5 minutes there was a squad car and three unmarked cars on the scene. Helicopter was above shortly after and there may have been cars on other roads.

The Gardai spent about two hours searching the area and arrested four guys up near the station. Guards are looking for any camera footage that may help them from last night.

Apparently it was a special squad that had been brought into Blanchardstown to deal with the spate of burglaries in the last month or so.

Amazing response form the Guards last night so hopefully they courts will do something about them now.

Had an email from our neighbourhood watch last night claiming the guards caught 3 of the 4. Apparently two of them hid in a back garden in Delwood, which explains the commotion over there, and that it was a gang wearing high vis vests that have been trying doors between 4-5pm in the afternoon.

Brilliant. We had some scumbags check our front door a while back (Ring doorbell!) and the Garda who came out mentioned this 'task force' would be happening, so kudos.

Not crime related but Dublin Live are reporting this morning that a man fell 40ft onto the rail lines near clonsilla train station. His phone signal had to be triangulated to find his location as he didn't know where he was and he had to be lifted across the canal.

What the hell is 40ft above the rail line to fall FROM?

The bridge near Porterstown LC might be high enough and would have access issues also depending where it happened. That's a horrible height for a fall injury-wise

Given the closure was restricted to the M3 branch you'd have to assume it was west of Clonsilla rather than near Porterstown? Maybe from the bridge on the R149, but not sure how high that is?

Bit of a strange one, as the canal runs parallel to the Maynooth/Sligo line.

Canon Troy Bridge, near St Mochta’s FC and Luttrellstown Community College.
Having read the story I believe the reporter was going by Twitter and simply didn’t have a clue where it was at.

I saw this on the way home from work about 10.50 that night, there was 3 fire brigades attending. They were parked right beside the entrance from the footpath down to the canal walk at the far end of the long carparking straight by Clonsilla station. Probably closer to Windermere/Aldemere/new St. Josephs than the actual train station. Too rainy for it to be a practice drill so I thought it might have been someone going into the canal.

I can't think of anything there or nearby that's that high to fall out of unless it was a tree. Maybe the guy said he fell and he was out of his tree so they put 2 and 2 together and got 40 foot

Hope the chap is alright, that was one dirty soggy night for sure.

Power cut in Waterville and surrounding areas an hour ago. Alarms going off everywhere. Due to be fixed by 4 but I'm not confident.

ESB website said fault at College Park, 1974 customers affected. Thing is we never used to have power cuts as we were on the hospital line but they've obviously changed that recently as we had a cut before Christmas too.

So, it's really bad and those further up the chain don't put sufficient resources here?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,651 ✭✭✭✭beauf

Based on the advert they'll concentrate on the bits that make good TV which will probably have a negative impression on the area. Maybe not.

There seems to be a constant lack of resources but a reluctance to really address it.

We had 4 tyres slashed in the estate because someone decided to park their car across a small cul de sac and when he was asked to move it he got upset. A few days later slashed tyers. Coincidence..... yeah.

    which estate?

Slashed tyres is not a normal reaction, used to be one of the favorite options used by criminals about 30 years ago to send a message.
Local Det Sargent back in the 90's came out one morning to find all the cars on his side of the road had one tyre slashed, except his car, all 4 were done.

    Who was asked to move???

A gang are targeting catalytic converters around the Carpenterstown and Delwood Area recently. According to the Gardaí they are going road by road. The got one near the train station at 11 last night before being spotted. Not much anyone can do but be vigilant.

Lots of products like this available, Garages will put them on for you, or their version of these locks.
