Listen, I got a chicken fillet from the butcher here in Gort Co. Galway the other day and I'd say it must have been tipping 500g mark, I got it up my hole to finish it. So it's mighty value. Pork chops as big as car tyres in the same spot for a euro a piece as well. Can't go wrong with that.

I find it hard to believe that small butchers in towns and villages are able to source cheaper Irish chicken and pork than a large multi national supermarket chain

Just thought I'd say it, especially as I read it somewhere else too, that the best before date on the €3 diced chicken is 'already too late' date. It might well be ok if you use it fresh from the store, days before its expiry date. But in my case, I cooked it on the expiry date in an effort to save it for cold salad etc the next day. Big mistake. It smelt out my fridge before I opened it so it smelt bad while cooking too. I had a spicy sauce that covered up anything offensive. But I ended up dumping it after cooking it. Bargain or no bargain, Delhi belly/salmonella poisoning would not be worth it. I know all about food safety, but it's a bit unusual to have this kind of scare from meat I've stored properly after buying.

Started getting my chops and fillets in local butcher in Galway. Chicken fillets and pork chops a euro each. Bigger and tastier too.

It's one thing Aldi can be beaten on imo

Lidl have a great lump of leg of lamb for €11.99 a kilo too. Little bit of work involved but it's great meat. I got one for €13 last weekend.
Sliced it into cubes and made 12 very generous lamb kebabs (marinated meat overnight)

Im not disputing this fact but how do butchers do that. Considering all the buying power that Aldi have, how can butchers do better deals than them. Aldi are a bit of a rip off when it comes to chicken breasts

    Ah herre Aldi, 1st Meat super 6 was €3, 2nd was €4, 3rd was €10.00 and €2.00 and now it's €5 !! Head wrecked !!

Still €5 for above is good deal (especially the Free Range chicken which I saw in Supervalu at over a tenner last week !)

Not bad value for the free-range chicken.

Na, it's not, less you're just looking for just one.

3 Pack in Dunnes is usually around €9

I presume that's just a typo and should be until July 3rd?

Either way, I'm going to be eating my bodyweight in cherries for the next 2 weeks.

I don't know, been getting them there for the ould fella for years, he likes their ones. Don't think I ever spent over €10....never noticed a 2 pack either though.

Tunnel vision for the 3 maybe.

Having tried both, personally I think the Aldi Rib Eyes are much superior to the ones you get in Dunnes.

What branding do the Dunnes Rib eyes come under ? Was in there earlier and I could only see 2 rib eyes for €11.99 (450grm) from their Speciality Range, the one packed with black cardboard. I couldn't see any other rib eyes there but did see a few rib steaks for cheap but that's a different cut. Rib eye is prob my favourite cut so I'm always keen to stock up the freezer:)

    You wish:D

Single steak I think, those specially selected cost around a tenner so no chance they would sell them for 3 euro, unfortunately.
