I thought that boxing was ref'd by each ref having 2 buttons, each time there's a hit they press the button and at the end of the round the 3 central scores are taken into account and averaged, if there's a tie they are added up, if there's still a tie then the other 2 judges rulings are brought it, it's not as if they thought the were more in sync with the music while landing a punch or anything like that.

Yeah, thats how the first stage of countback works, then after that the highest and lowest scores of each are omitted. If they're still level however, the judges choose a winner each randomly, which is where the main issue is as its purely opinion.
