it not that think the odtr brought out which said everybody was happy with the progress of broadband in ireland.

Id just like to say, that ioffl has its work cut out for itself, getting ADSL believe it or not will be the easy part as its bound to come in relatively soon, but getting them to roll it out to the country will be tough, then to get a decent connection ratio of 25-1 will be even tougher, and then to get them to incress the speed as needed will be the tough est challenge,

No - it's a new paper they have published summarising their view of the state of Internet access in ireland and inviting all interested parties to give their opinions.

You can find it at http://www.odtr.ie/docs/odtr0147.doc

It's a very long document - the one that Elana told them at our meeting with them was the biggest piece of crap she had read for a long time, and then discovered that one of the guys at the meeting was responsible for writing some of it smile.gif

We are putting together a reply to it as an organisation but people can also make individual replies and we are actively encouraging this.

every time i try to read an odtr doc i find myself longing for the sweat imbrace of death,

These things are dull and long winded, their like windows manuals that give 5 pages on pressing the start button on your computer.

but ill try, as it might give me afew quesion for the siminar,
You will be taking questions from the floor wont you?

Definitely, but our response has to be made by 27th August so we can't wait to the seminar.

David and Elana are currently going through the report to pick out the key areas (easily the most tedious job IOFFL has had to do yet frown.gif ) - we will publish a draft response here, probably next week, for people to comment on.

If any of the threads here are relevant to the issue, what about submitting the thread in the name of the participants, or do the submissions have to conform to a structure in order to be considered?

Or would the noise to signal ratio be too high wink.gif

There is no particular structure required when submitting to a consultation.....it may be an idea to reference a few very specific threads that support the specific issues tackled in the submission.

I haven't read this consultation yet, but if history is anything to go by, the DTR requires to held by the hand and led through any technical issues. Therefore the focus needs to be on EU Law, precedent, consumer interests, examples of eircom barriers to development of the access market etc.
