Filter porn

Because porn is so accessible and free on the internet nowadays, even young children/ teenagers are viewing/getting exposed to it. I hope we all agree this can't continue.

In order to avoid this, I believe all porn should be filtered from the internet, with the option for an adult to 'opt in' if they wish to view porn. This protects our young people and at the same time gives adults a choice, whether to view it or not. I'd like to see this initiative spread across the entire EU.

How do you propose that they block it from underage people?

That'd be something like 90% of the internet gone.
    It just wouldn't work.

Of course, sure women don't watch porn at all.

What we need to do is close the internet down and go back to innocent halcyon days when no-one had the butt-seks.

And where would it end, next people will want to ban pictures of cigarettes, tobacco companies and alcohol sites from the web.

Maybe monitor your own web usage and setup filters at home if you are that concerned!

The internet should never have been made public. It should have been kept solely as a means for distributing porn within the US Military and Academics.

I'd be in favour of removing ads for 'hot singles in your area' while I'm doing work or on facebook :pac:

As for controlling access to the sites, there's not much you can do, "hello eircom? Here's my account details. If you could let me have access to the following sites..." :p

No biko but I like the article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/may/26/iceland-crackdown-internet-porn

However, the difference here is the adults can contact their internet provider and ask to be opted into access of porn. Young teenagers are being exposed to this material and as adults it's our responsibility to look out for them.

So we get inconvenienced because ****ty parents can't get a handle on their kids use of technology?

Don't get them smartphones, limit internet, etc etc. It's just bloody laziness and ignorance to expect the government to do your job for you.

If you're serious OP....lol. Ill just flip the porn switch to "off" and we can get on with our lives.

If not, is the the worst example of trolling in recent AH history?

That requires efforts. Leave the kids learn about the birds and the bees.

    Sure what harm?

As a young teen in the eighties, that's all I was looking for in dens and sheds etc.

36% of the internet I think was the statistic used in the Sunday Times. Someone can correct me on that but it's there or thereabouts. Personally I can't see the problem of an 'opt in' option on a device or on your wifi. If you're old enough to pay the bills for your own phone or wifi then have your jollies all you want.

Young children seeing porn on the internet is the parents problem. I don't believe a parent could have such a lapse in judgement, that they would allow a young child use the internet alone.

What's the problem with teenagers viewing porn?

Edit: i wish i could make that last sentence sound less icky

Or how about you filter out the adult content in your own home (which is not too difficult), parent your own children, and leave the rest of us alone.

If you are a parent use OpenDNS to filter out porn. There also other "netnanny" programs out there.

Meanwhile they access/receive porn from other sources. Nice idea, hasn't been effective.
