I want to watch some older tv shows maybe gone or still here even because i dont like to many that are on the tv atm. I think the best tv show ever was probably red dwarf or maybe that 70's show! both were brilliant. I thought lost was good aswel but it wouldn't be up there with the best.
So what was your favourite tv show(s)?

The Sopranos is without a doubt my favorite TV show of all time. I have watched series 1 through 6 so many times.

In it's day The Sweeney was my favourite tv programme but I've watched some repeats on ITV 4 and it seems so dated now, can't think of any programmes from the 70's that don't look dated

the corner by hbo, great show that inspired the wire

The Corner is alright but it's depressing, hardly up there with The Wire.

I'd say The Wire or The Sopranos.

I'd say either Arrested Development or Dexter. Both have superlative characters, writing and acting but I'd give the nod to AD, since great comedy is far harder to write than drama, it's intensely reflexive and layered. An extremely smart, witty but overall hilarious programme. I can't speak highly enough about it.

What sets AD from earlier (incredible) Simpsons is the fresh archetypes, intensive joke-per-scene ratio and has season-long (if not longer) plot-threads. It's also far more daring in it's places of humour.

I'll third that, gritty American prison drama Oz was my favourite.

I have yet to watch the Wire though, hope it lives up to the hype

Oh, it does, in spades. In a different league to any other TV drama ever, in my humble opinion. Told a story in a way few other dramas have even attempted. I loved the way each series was a self contained story and yet over five series a whole world was created. There were so many characters and yet even the minor ones felt fully developed and real. Awesome.

Yep some things are just burned into the memory

    'Take out the trash drooper'

I think Ali Bongo and David Nixon had slots on it though I could be mistaken

And the absolute pinnacle in Bannana Splits black and white, exquisitely dubbed Robinson Crusoe.

I loved that theme music to RC anyone know what was it called?
