The 9.55am service from Bray crashes through the station wall
    http://cf.broadsheet.ie/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/138.jpg

The "present day" picture has the train coming out in the wrong direction - it burst through the wall onto Upper Hatch Street - about 90 degree angle from what the mock-up picture shows.

If you go there now you can still see the repaired brick-work (over the door of Tripod)

Not sure if this has been posted already but it's the wreckage of Tom Pryce's car after the crash that killed him and race marshall Jansen Van Vuuren in the 1977 South African Grand Prix. There's footage of the crash on youtube, but it's horrendous - something I wish I hadn't seen.

apparently there are a lot more people in that photo but because of the length of time of the exposure only the man having his shoes shined and the boy were captured because they were stationary

Folks, a lot of comments have been removed in reaction to one extremely silly comment. In future please report the post and let us deal with it instead of derailing the thread even further.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolae_Ceau%C8%99escu

"On Christmas Day, 25 December, in a small room the Ceaușescus were tried before a drumhead court-martial convened on orders of the National Salvation Front, Romania's provisional government. They faced charges including illegal gathering of wealth and genocide. Ceaușescu repeatedly denied the court's authority to try him, and asserted he was still legally president of Romania. At the end of the quick show trial the Ceaușescus were found guilty and sentenced to death. A soldier standing guard in the proceedings was ordered to take the Ceaușescus out back one by one and shoot them, but the Ceaușescus demanded to die together. The soldiers agreed to this and began to tie their hands behind their back which the Ceaușescus protested against but were powerless to prevent.

The Ceaușescus were executed by a gathering of soldiers: Captain Ionel Boeru, Sergeant-Major Georghin Octavian and Dorin-Marian Cîrlan,[19] while reportedly hundreds of others also volunteered. The firing squad began shooting as soon as the two were in position against a wall. A TV crew who were to film the execution only managed to catch the end of it as the Ceaușescus lay on the ground shrouded by dust kicked up by the bullets striking the wall and ground. Before his sentence was carried out, Nicolae Ceaușescu sang "The Internationale" while being led up against the wall. After the shooting, the bodies were covered with canvas."

    ^^^ I remember that well.
Some time before he stood above a square before thousands and they turned on him.
I really believe he didn't know what was going on due to his perceived infallibility.

    A real badden.

    Brutal way to die, though.
