    Hi,
im hooking my computer to a projector to play movie video files for a small home theater and was wondering does anyone know of any software that can play my movie video files but also as im scrolling through my movie files it shows some info on the movie. Maybe the software grabs some info from imdb or something like that.
    Any help much appreciated.

I use Plex for that, it will get cover art for you, description of the movie, ratings from IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes (although you have to add an agent to get Rotten Tomato ratings), and depend on the version will also get trailers. It can also play for example the TV theme in the background when you're browsing episodes.

I believe Kodi is good too, but I found Plex much easier to setup and get going, Kodi takes a bit more work and as Plex meets all my needs I never bothered experimenting with Kodi again

Another vote for Plex. Very good at pulling information about your stored media, and if you subscribe it will gather trailers and extras for movies.
