Hi all,

amnio test

    hi girls,im due in may and my consultant said he would like to do an amnio test because my mam had a still birth years ago.i know theres a small risk involved so am reluctant to have it done.just wondering if anyone has any experience with this??thanks

    that seems strange to me :confused: Did he give any indication of what he might be looking for? What would the benefit of having the amnio be? Would the benefit outweigh the risks?

    I had amnio 13 weeks ago (self referral 16 weeks) but had a nuchal fold test done first (also self referral 11 weeks). Perhaps your scan indicated a heightened risk as your mum having a still birth doesn't sound like a reason for amnio unless there was a genetic factor in your family that means that the fetus will not survive. How old are you? I agree with littlebug that it seems strange to suggest something like that without a proper explanation.
