There's something subdued about that Buzzard. It just doesn't seem alert or in good health.

All I can say is that he was extremely alert when I was trying to stalk closer to him , He spotted me the second I passed a gap in the hedge and was off . He was eating well and hunting actively for the time I was there and he was not alone, I spotted 5 Buzzards in the area , 2 of which hunt the field where these photos were taken . I have been watching the area for quite a while now and these Buzzards are in great condition with a plentiful source of food in this area.

What makes you think he is not in good health ?

Some little guys from yesterday and this morning. A couple of redpolls which I haven't seen much of. Plus a chaffinch doing a Marilyn Monroe impression!

    OpenYourEyes ,

Great photos of the Brent geese , I have taken many photos of them but it is very difficult to get good definition on their eyes , Black head and Black eyes are difficult to define, well done on your photos....

Thanks Nightforce! It was my first proper attempt at photographing Brent (none in my home county!) and I was lucky that the bright sun that day allowed for the 'glint' in their eyes - though that same bright sun caused its own problems with overexposure etc!

I'm similar - point & shoot. To date with the help of this thread I have listed 58 species so far most of them I have never seen before. The quality of the photography is great.

Spotted in Dublin Near Swords today, I think all of Birdwatch Ireland were there today so there were only brief views but a couple of photographers got some nice shots , these are ok but I didnt get the Fire crest flared up....

Keps the wren looks so serene & content in the 2nd pic - the ones here all look scrawny and harrassed.

Nightforce could you give me the name of 3rd pic please "Mostly black tailed Godwit...?" I am just learning and not up to bird watcher standard. TIA

The birds in the flock are black tailed godwit as far as I know. There are 2 types of godwit. Black tailed and bar tailed ,the clue to their I'd is in the name. Black tailed godwit are the more common ones.

They are mainly black tailed godwit and some are coming into breeding plummage. They are the ones with the rusty colours on them. I also see knot in that photo.
