Anyone see the French Air Force tanker that was there overnight, arrived yesterday, left sometime around noon today. Was parked by the FedEx near the tower. Think it was the French version of the KC-135.

I'm reckon I saw it approaching over Howth Sound yesterday late afternoon. (I've a great view from Howth all the way down to the airport) I reckoned it looked unusual - dark with four engines, a few extra 'bits' and thicker than usual body - and thought about checking online but dismissed it as probably being cargo or other private and continued my business without bothering to get binoculars out.

i was in schipol at the weekend, my camera was in my luggage arriveing and dead battery's on departure. got a great view of everything on arrival because we drove around the entire airport! we came in on 36C and there was a Lufthansa a320 or a321 landing on 36R at the same time as us. a very rare sight when your a passenger to see another plane landing next to ya.

    i got up close to:

    KLM: A330, DC-10, 747, 777 and KLM Cargo 747

    Singapore: 747 cargo, 777

    Emirates: 747 cargo

    Cathay pacific: 747

    China Airlines: 747

    NCA Cargo: 747

    Northwest: a330, 747 cargo(old colours)

    Delta: A330

    malaysia: 747

i have to say, it was a real treat as i was never up close to Heavy's before.

F3-Tornados captured from a DC-10 while 1 of them sat at the end of either wing of the DC-10.
They give a 200mile escort to all flights into the Falkland Islands.
The most impressive bit was when they broke away from the DC-10.
They performed a (roughly) 160-degree roll and just appeared to drop down towards earth at an unbelievable rate.
Sure was glad that I had a window seat...
