Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    I have a very large garden and back yard. I haven't the first clue what to do with it. At the moment it's not even planted and the back yard resembles a construction site...which it was until 3 months ago.

    What's my first step here? i'd like to do up the place but i need a bit of guidance as to where to start. is there any online tool that will allow me to draw my garden and create a landscape?

    On a site that has been a building site it is essential that you go over it and remove not only visible chunks of concrete, blocks, timber, tiles, plastic and anything else that is lying around, but also do a close inspection and a bit of investigating with a pickax to find stuff that is just under the surface.

    Then you will need to get in a machine to lift the soil that has been seriously compressed by heavy machinery on the site. If you leave it compressed or full of lengths of plastic etc you will have endless problems with drainage and with getting anything to grow.

    Be grateful that it hasn't had half an inch of topsoil and some grass seed thrown on top of the mess! Listen to the voice of experience! ;)

    Make sure you have proper drainage in place also
