Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Can a Dog that has had his Tail Docked still swim??

    I was eavesdropping in Tesco and overheard that they can't, is this right?

    LOL. Of course they can swim. Many water dogs/retrievers have their tales docked.

    Total cra*p :) Ive 2 boxers and they can swim:)both docked.My boxer who died last year was great at swimming,he was also docked :).

    I have 2 rotties, that are both docked and are great swimmers, once i get them into the water, lol.

    I'd assumed it was Bull alright but then I thought about it and I couldn't actually think of a time I seen one swimming.

    One of them had a convincing story about it working like a rudder.

    Never been a problem for my youngest dog - she's a great little swimmer even with her tail docked.

    Why do dogs have their tails docked? Is it a breed issue or a fashion fad?? My sister got a Yorkie and its tail was docked before she got him - my dog has its tail and it was funny as my niece is fascinated with my dog wagging its tail lol
