What happens if I don't finish conditional registration with the Teaching Council?

    Howdy all,

I got a letter out a few days back about how the deadline for my conditional registration with the TC is up in December. I have about 200 of the 300 hours done, but never got round to the rest for one reason or another, mainly how difficult it was to find English jobs in my area :/

Realistically, I've moved on from the profession; I started up my own business a few months back, and am a lot happier working now than I was waiting by the phone for scraps of sub days. But I just wanted to check, if I ever moved back into the education sector...what happens if I let that registration lap?

I know I couldn't work and be paid. I'm presuming it doesn't nullify my PGDE (that nightmarish year is not coming off the C.V. :P), but presuming they'd want me to head back onto some course or something? I think I read that before? What happens if the allotted time passes and I've not hit the 300 hours?

    Thanks in advance :)

I think you bombard them with teaching job rejection letters and evidence of what you have completed and they consider extending your deadline. 200 hours is to be commended. Not many will even have that.
