    Frustrated AB Winger:
Doug Howlett was arrested in London early on Wednesday morning.

According to the NZ Press Association, Howlett was released on bail after his arrest at 3am on suspicion of damaging two vehicles at the Hilton Hotel carpark at Heathrow Airport. The winger was among a number of All Blacks remaining in Europe after the team’s quarter-final loss to France at the World Cup and had been staying at the hotel.

All Blacks manager Darren Shand today said they would be conducting their own investigation into the incident.

“We are waiting for the police to conclude their inquiries. Once that occurs, we will initiate our own process to look into the incident and related issues,” he said. “It is a serious matter and we are concerned that something of this nature has occurred at what is already a disappointing time for the team and for our supporters.”

Meanwhile, security measures have been put in place to protect Wayne Barnes, the referee who has been the target of abuse from angry All Blacks supporters. The Englishman has been overlooked for the semi-finals and final, but will be working in the technical area at the Stade de France on Sunday.

It has also emerged that New Zealand rugby boss Jock Hobbs could be punished for claiming that Barnes had cost the All Blacks 17 points against France. Greg Thomas, the IRB communications manager, said that council members were bound by a code of conduct. If it was felt that this had been breached, action would be taken.

maybe they shouldn't be telling angry all black fans when & where he's going to be :)

wonder how much damage was actually done

I thought he seemed like a decent bloke. Looks like the ABs are taking their exit with the same grace as their fans and media.

Rumours of a domestic disturbance. Rumours that his hotel room was wrecked too.

Hopefully this gets sorted quickly so that Doug can get home and relax.
