    Such a noob :o

I don't know anything about most of my players but I was cross checking them to a ranking list and furiously checking for injury news when I found someone I liked
A-Rod is the only player I knew, everyone knows him

I did my best, can do no more :)

And I'm learning all the time

    Bring on Week One

You're team ended up pretty good, Yahoo rankings screwed you over a bit as they weren't updated for the injuries to Howard and Madson.
You can throw Howard on the DL, and you might be able to find some RP to replace Madson out there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,395 ✭✭✭✭mikemac1

Yep, dropped Madson, he's top of the trend chart for drops

Doing a bit of research now for another RP

    Find some sleeper somewhere :)

Yep, Madson will have Tommy John surgury soon which has a one yearish recovery time so will not play this year. The injury was only discovered in the last few days so anyone who drafted him in an earlier draft will be dropping him. As for Howard move him to your DL spot as soon as Yahoo do, he will be back mid-season.

Hope you can find an RP to replace him, looks like all the likely closers have been taken plus their setup men...

If there's anyone out there who still wants a fantasy baseball draft fix, am in a league that is drafting Thursday at 9 that still has couple of spots open.
Weekly H2H (most categories), mixed 10-team
Send me a msg if interested.

You can throw Howard on the DL,

Still waiting for Yahoo to declare he is DL
    Hasn't happened yet
I think I need to bench him now and put in my reserve 1B for opening day

There's pretty much nothing out in free agency for that position, happens I suppose with a 16 man league. I'll stay looking
and you might be able to find some RP to replace Madson out there.

Few options on the Nationals and I'm happy with my choice :)

    Sorry, one question

One of my pitchers has been suspended for five games
I'll be having words with him

    Now on yahoo it's SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, P

Now do I need those positions filled for every game?
So I could bench this ill disciplined Ubaldo Jimenez from Cleveland and bring in another pitcher for now?

The rules section was not clear to me and all new to this

Once the season is up and running there will be no more questions I think :)
I know it's head to head and can't be asking for tips all the time. Just I'm confused over the pitchers at the minute

Yea, once the teams set their 25-man rosters they will place injured players on the DL. In Howards case, this should happen before the Phillies first game.

As for Ubaldo, he will only miss one start if that. He can appeal and take his first start, then pull the appeal or fail to have it reversed and serve the 5-game suspension. The Indians will probably stick him straight back in to start after the suspension is served. I have him myself in another league and wont be dropping him unless he has a crap start to the season.

As for filling the pitching positions. The days probable starters will be indicated so you can start filling out the SP positions with them. If you have more than 2 starters then stick them in the P positions. Relievers can play any day depending on the situation in a game, I would always have these guys in RP and P positions. The league is set up as daily - today so you can make changes on day of the games. Position player lineups for a game are usually out about an hour before the game start so you can adjust your lineup if some of your guys are not starting. Rosters can be set days in advance aswell.

BTW I just checked your team. Stephan Drew will be starting the season on the DL aswell.

Benched Ibanez today. 1 R, 1 HR, 4 RBI, .500 AVG so far in this game.

    Sigh.

Can't believe the Yahoo Week 1 is over already, after only 3 games.
Obviously not happy cos I was 1-9, but 3 games ridiculous.

At least in the ESPN leagues, Week 1 goes until next Sunday so still have a chance for all my slow starters to get going.

Unfortunately thats the way Yahoo is set up this year. Looking ahead they have combined all-star week with another week and the finals week is also a week and a half.

I'm in the same boat as you (1-8-1) with slow starters especially with my hitting. Long term I think I'll be fine with my pitching but not so sure about my hitting. Been a 16 team league there isn't much hitting on the waiver either...

Nice win for the rookie :)

I got nothing, nothing at all at first base with Ryan Howard out
James Loney for the Dodgers did nothing at all for me so I'm taking a chance on a little known player, needed cover anyway

I planned to get LaRoche from the Nationals but Those Pesky Badgers were indeed pesky and swooped in :(

    (

Congrats. It was me (a fellow rookie) that you beat. My pitching was shocking, with Lincecum, Bumgartner and Wainwright going 0-3 and Aceves having an infinite ERA

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,395 ✭✭✭✭mikemac1

Trade proposed to the Pesky Badgers

Being new to the sport I'll probably get laughed at for being ridiculous :o
Or worse still get robbed blind

    But I think it's a fair trade

Picked up Jake Arrieta SP from Baltimore this week
Got me a win and seven K's and very good ERA and WHIP

His ownership rocketed during the week

I thought I'd be smart and drop him, get in another player for a few days and bring him back on Saturday

    Got grabbed on waivers
Serves me right for trying to be cute, rookie mistake :(

Yea, been a 16-man league every team will have needs so if a No.1 starter gets dropped to waivers he will probably be snapped up before he clears.

Picking up Humber for todays game should more than make up for missing out on Arrieta ;)

    Indeed

I picked up Humber from free agency this morning

    Love this guy :D

    Nah, I'm only a rookie

When I started the season A-Rod was the only player on my team I ever heard of :o

    You're doing well then :)

That Yankees comeback has nearly wiped out my lead in my matchup. The 8 runs have been put on by Swisher and Teixiera who my opponent has, they did it it using 3 longballs aswell :(
