Many of the fill valves can be removed with a flathead screwdriver if people want to have a crack at it themselves, save a bit of time maybe.
Wouldn't recommend it, I've damaged valves in the past doing that.

none of my mags were usable after the flight, they were all tested ok before and leaked like a sieve once we got there.

Also, the post office lost the package with the medic armbands and the other dozen or so blank nato ones, i'm still hoping they turn up or i've only about 10 spares to go around

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

Skatedude, are you saying your mags didn't work after being on the plane?

So are we expected to put our mags and 'ammunition' into bags seperate to our flight cases?

I assume not. I would imagine the change in air pressure would **** up objects used to contain gas...Dex get in here now

Just packed all my "kit" into the storm case and she doesnt feel ridic heavy
Masada, 416, mags, pistol, pistol mags, eotechs lasers etc. I havnt cut any slots into my stormcase, so ala Gerrout i went out the back and threw my case around, and long and behold nothing budged an inch, the foam has it so compressed along with the pressure thing nothing even moved

    Win.

( It took me an hour to decide between 416 and m16 )

I'm going into town tomorrow to pick up a Haavarsack thingy for my clothes. So into that goes, belt rig, chest rig, camo, hats, civie clothes, gloves, goggles etc.

Then I've my multicambackpack for carry on and to carry ipod, gameboy ds, camera and laptop for serious wow session in hotel (joke)

To forewarn everyone I'm brining my flashy Nikon camera and you know that annoying person thats picture happy on nights out, well thats going to be me, cause ive this like 500 euro camera that i never use.

I'll be at the airport from roughly 6-6:30 and checking in the minute they open. Want to try sneak pass the extra baggae charge i have on my large case by sweet talk and I figure if im one of the first I'll get leeway instead of your wan looking back and seeing 20 lads with "death" in their eyes.

My monday in the hotel will consist of arriving, flaking, drinking and dinner, then a trip to the casino for a long period should anyone be a gambler and want a buddy just holla.

( Tavor fund here i come)

I'd also appreciate that if my roommate doesnt see me in bed by 4am to come down and drag me from the tables.

    EDIT:

Yeah i wont be there at 6, my flights at like 13:20, what the **** was i smoking, what would i without gerrout, holding me hand in sweden he will :)

    I'm promising nothing!

So GBB mags should not go into the flight case?

I've loaded my case (non storm case) and thrun it around the place, to much the same result you found.

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to check in that early Doc, also, if you do, I would imagine that, as the first AEG carrier checking in, you will be subject to the most scrutiny.

I've been to Stockholm before so I won't be doing much touristy stuff, just flaking and buzzing will be on the cards.

you would not be allowed to carry mags in your carry on, they must go in the hold, just bear in mind that you may have to strip and clean some mags once you get there to sort them. only a few people had trouble with gbb mags after the flight, and most were fixed with a good dose of silicon oil

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

Ok, so we do put them into the flight cases but they won't get damaged in the hold.
I'm just trying to figure out, because I clearly don't know these things.

Steve and Bernard from the IAA headed over to the airport this evening to talk to the police there (not the airport police). They're the guys who deal with inspections.

They're expecting us sunday morning (and monday for the cork lads). We have the name and number of the Sergeant in charge that morning, so there should be few garda-related issues for people who are checking in stuff. Steve will be around that morning in the airport to see us off and make sure things go according to plan. This by no means give people carte blanche to wave stuff about and/or feel entitled to check stuff in, but should smooth the cogs a bit.

If anyone wants a letter from the IAA saying you're part of the Irish Contingent, please PM me with your full name and IAA number and I'll get one to you tomorrow.

    IAA Vice-Chair

Again the IAA completely on the ball and helping ease the stress of travelling with the simplest of means, just let the authorities know beforehand :)

Seriously thanks a million lads greatly appreciated.

Now in gratitude lets all throw a tenner in the kitty to pay for Fays flights and get him to sweden :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

We'll just stick him in a storm case :)

All my mags and pistol mags and guns , lasers, scopes are in my flight case, my batteries will be there too.

    Everything "gunny" into the case.

Just to give a friendly reminder, if your a smoker, zippo lighter into the check in, cant bring on carry on, remember having an epic row 2 year ago with a security woman who through my 1944 US army issue zippo in the bin and i nearly burst her.

Also can anyone clarify if knives in check in luggage is cool? I've a little switchblade that I always carry with me airsofting ( not actually on my person, in bag left in safezone ) for the likes of...cutting stuff...

Its cool in check in luggage yeah?

  • Registered Users Posts: 859 ✭✭✭StevieGriff

Yeah should be fine. Btw are you gunna be taken in games pics with your slr?

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,128 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

Not 100% sure, planned leaving it in storm case in tent lockbox thingy.

Dont want to have a cracked lens or fall onto it, never know though, I'd say ill get a few pics during downtime around the tent and perimeter etc.

Never know might get a chance to get a few pics.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

I have a smaller, more conventional camera to take in game photos with.

Yeah im not whipping out the nikon ingame, all i need is it to get smashed, not even carrying in bag wouldnt say for fear of falling on it.

Then again might get one of those whopper lenses, ms170 spring and bring a sniper rifle

You could always just pick up a UV filter, if ya don't have one already it's madness not too. There only about 10 quid or less and they could save your lense easily.

you wont break a camera lens with a BB, its like a rock. the plastics on the camera body might get damaged though.
A D80 is a huge weight to carry around though. you'd be better off picking up a compact or a bridge if you really need zoom.

656 fps bbs might cause a bit of damage Richie :P

wrap it in a ton of cling film and bubble wrap, to the point where you could use it as a football

  • Registered Users Posts: 859 ✭✭✭StevieGriff

Or buy a lowpro case if ya really want to kick it around.:D

It wont., not to the glass at least maybe the screen and plastics as i said above.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

i may not break the camera but it can leave imperfections in the glass afterwords that are almost impossible to remove and when you can pay easily 300+ euros on a lens its not the best thing :) im talking from experience unfortunately :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

Anyone have a handheld tv that takes video input that I can plug a remote spy camera into?

(Have the spy camera and receiver, cant find my screen)

Like I said if it's an SLR just buy an uv filter and it'll be fine..

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,261 ✭✭✭Puding

yep that's what i do know, cracked a few filters but no damage to the lens

Making the assumption that we are all IAA members. Which a large proportion of us are not.

So now we have two groups, one being seen as affiliates with a structured organisation and another as messers. Which is not the case, but if I was a cop I would class all non-members as a threat now.

    cheers for that lads.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,623 ✭✭✭scanlant

I'm sure the IAA will not differentiate, after all they represent all airsofters, members or not.

Do you have spare Na Fianna patches for Berget kd?

I just had a gander on airsofthacks and saw them.
