Really really curious to know what your Borderlands 2 clock is showing for your main characters (especially Penn and calex71). I think I'm about 100 hours and I haven't even finished TVHM or done any serious farming.

Wondering the same myself. Though it might depress me to find out :D

Finished TVHM last night, and spent WAAAAAAY longer than intended trying (unsuccessfully!) to farm a bee shield...
Took me 2 hours of killing him inside 30 seconds to get one and that's not much compared to average times. Didn't even get a great one...and that's been the shortest time I've spent farming a legendary!
UTVHM seems to be giving them up alot easier though:)

I started this again. I had a level 30 zerker and still have not finished the game even once... I think there is just no "zing" between me and zerker. And I LOVE such classes!!!

So anyway, I rerolled and playing as that girl with a robot. A lot more fun now. :p I have to say starting borderlands 2 now is not the smartest thing... I am still full time on Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, Monster Hunter 3 and now this... I think I need some help with hoarding Issue.

calex has about 700 hours sunk into it, damo afaik they nuked the bee so it's not really worth it?

    Damnit.
Any other particular shield/gun combo come highly recommended then?

The Bee is still pretty useful, especially with a gun called Sand Hawk (from the mission Whoops in Cpt.Scarletts DLC). The issue with The Bee now is, as well as being less powerful, it can take about 8 seconds to start recharging. On TVHM or against raid bosses, that's just too long sometimes. Using shield boosting class mods/relics/skill points can help though. Bee is also useful with the Infinity if you can get one.

No real specific shield/gun combo to use. Try getting a Double Penetrating Unkempt Harold. An explosive pistol which fires 6 shots at once, with huge damage. It's my go-to in FFYL, though it can be inaccurate as f*ck. Can't remember who is most likely to drop it though.

I'm up to about 800 now over all, much as I'd love to take my Mechromancer all the way to 61 I just don't have it in me to do it, getting Zerker there is hard enough. Not just that but opening up all the areas to be able to do the bosses is even more consuming. That said farming varkid pods is definitely the way to go, in UVHM they all not not in one show so well nealry always go to pod in large numbers 1k for an adult pod 4k for a badass pod ........ I didn't dare let them go any further :o

As for the Bee, I tried it with the sandhawk and didn't like it. The sandhawk is used more like a shotgun than an smg though if it was a fire it might be better, I'll actually give it a look now. I use an evolution shield almost all the time now not just for the elemental resistance but the sizable health boost, up graded it a while ago, thank fook i horded seraphs when i had the chance.

I will normally start a boss/ raid with the bee and swap it out as soon as it looses its effect, good way to get some free extra dmg done, only do that solo as you can't pause in multiplayer lol

In addition to what Penn said, the Redundant Fibber (obtained from a chain of missions in Eridium Blight, although I think there are ~8 possible variants) is pretty unreal with the Bee. The amp damage does take a hit because they are two 'primary' projectiles but, when those projectiles impact something, they ricochet with a fairly tight shotgun spread with ~20 pellets in total - it can be a real pain in the ass to aim, since you spend most of your time starting at the ground! It's worked pretty well for me when it comes to farming bosses, although I haven't taken the time to compare it with the Sandhawk (since I've been using the Slagga as my SMG of choice lately).

EDIT: Just because I love the gun so much, and want everybody who doesn't use it to use it... it's pretty awesome!

Is it just me or have the seraph vendors been robbed of anything useful since the update?

I went looking for an interfacer and evolution, none of them had any and they seem to have fewer items on offer now, the one in Oasis only had 4 guns and a relic on special.

Edit: The good stuff now drops from the raid bosses, and seraphs no longer drop on TVHM, well thats just great ffs

Yeah, noticed that when I went back to TVHM to beat Pete last night. Dropped absolute crap and no seraph crystals.

I'm also an idiot because I checked a Torgue machine and saw a DP Unkempt Harold, so I bought it. I'm only Lvl51. Why the hell didn't I wait until I got Lvl61 rather than spending all my Torgue Tokens? Now I have two Lvl50 DPUHs which will probably be too underpowered to use in another 3 or 4 levels.

Going to spend a bit of time tonight beating The Warrior on Normal Mode in order to build up money and eridium before continuing the game. Only get about 17xp for beating the Warrior on Normal now (did it twice last night) so I won't be levelling up at the same time.

I heard that it's much better than Borderlands 1. After I'll finish Bioshock - I'll try this

I certainly think so, as fun as I thought BL1 was (I have about 80 hours on it), I think BL2 is a much better game. The humour was great, and less prone to falling back on Claptrap for jokes (still happens a bit, but I don't notice as much). The fact that the classes don't have a specialist weapon that they are best with makes it a bit more well-rounded too.

Dual wield those DP's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm 59 and my lvl 50 is still in my right hand and the slagga in the left, nothing the game has offered me so far even the 3 lvl 59 pearl guns come close to it, and thanks Penn for the relief in knowing they still show up in the the vending machines after what happened with the seraph stuff !!!!! Now this pegs the question if I'm holding my own with a lvl 50 what in gods name is a 61 going to be like ??????? and combined with a lvl 61 Sheriff's Badge dual wielded

I smell a new raid boss killer combo here

    F*cking Ironclad Lunatics....

The Double Double Penetrating Unkempt Harolds is a hell of a combo, but it chews through ammo like f*ck. same with the Slagga/Hellfire combo I've been using as they're both SMGs.

But man, those Ironclad Lunatics.... And the Rabid Stalkers fairly soak up bullets too

Man those screwing rabid stakers

Finally hit 61 earlier and I am officially armed to the teeth with lvl 61 gear :)

Your playing a zerker too no Penn? My clip size for my lvl 50 DP harold was 42 and ammo cap 1040, 1500ish for the smg , the slagga is a 3 for 1 bullet is not?

Took me a while to get the vending machine to play ball and give me a lvl 61 DP in the end it accepted the first DP it offered mag size of 32 :(

Had a kind soul dupe me an evo shield so at lvl61 I have 130k shields and 460k health, this is with a 50% health relic and +15% in badass stats.

In UVHM even with these stats I can be taken out fairly quickly the DP at 61 does about double the damage of what the 50 did, but those hyperion spooks
with the sniper rifles have been one shotting me in the arid badlands doing the data mining mission

Oh the tedior pearlescent smg the Avenger is really cool on the reload, not as good as the deliverance legendary but still useful.

IMO the first game is far superior, BL2 just has too many stupid annoying things and the majority of weapons are worse than useless

Just soloed Pete on UVHM !!!!!!!!!

I don't feel in the least bit guilty by doing it cheap and dirty, getting him to get up on the ledge and hugging the wall below him and blasting away with dual dp harrolds while he was slagged, still took over 10 minutes ...... had to wait for ammo to regen and only got corroded twice, and this was while using a bee with 150k amp shot

    What was the loot like?

How many hours have you put into UVHM to cap out. You die alot. Played a bit at the weekend and only got to 51 and headed to Three Horns. The GZ ability while in FFL has stopped me from dieing more.

The only weapon I've picked up to use so far is a slag Sub-M, can't remember which one. Like the fact that the tactics have had to change, using snipers alot more now along with slag, particularly with those Ironclad mo-fo's and the Scavengers.

Poor Dark Souls still sitting in it's box waiting to be played...

I am so glad I have a turret that slags enemies at the moment. Have only done a few missions so far, but the Armoured Bandits destroy my shield in seconds.

Ha snap I have dark souls untouched too, took most of the main story to reach the cap, the loot from pete was poor, 2 seraph shields, but I killed him as part of that mission so I'm going to try him again and hope the loot is better, I'm also going to respec and go into the 2 guns of the same type one, as I'm dualing matching harrolds so I may have a quicker fight next time.

I really wish you could save builds and swap between them.

Just finished Where Angels Fear to Tread. That mission absolutely destroyed me. The game scales to your level and it still felt like I was about three levels short. Then to top it off, game glitched in Control Core Angel on the last Eridium injector meaning I had to quit and start that section again. Have been switching between the Sham and Bee shields too depending on the situation.

Still only Lvl54 after all that too having not done any side missions. Have finally started finding some new weapons to use too. Have come across about 6 legendary loot midgets but no orange or pearlescent weapons yet. Two etech relics but they're both useless.

Next mission is Sawtooth Cauldron. Yikes.

I really gave sawtooth no time, I just dropped off the right at the start and through the tunnel below to get to the lift, the worst part about the area is that the harrold is absolutely useless against the buzzards, in the end I had to log in a 2nd profile split screen , and leave it in a safe area so as their health wouldn't regenerate every time I died. :o

Just finished that mission there. Was mostly using Slagga and Caustic Infinity (zerking with the Infinity helps rebuild my pistol ammo for the Harolds), then switching to the Harolds when I got low on health, which was a lot because of those f*cking Ironclads, Gravediggers and Scavengers. Sham shield would be brilliant if not for them, though it's still working out pretty good. Buzzards didn't give me a lot of trouble (I stay well hidden so most of what they shoot doesn't hit), but it's those f*cking Ironclads/Scavengers/Gravediggers that mean I have to run in and out of cover too often.

I just find the worst thing about that mission is the ambush part, because the New-U respawn machine is RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE F*CKING AMBUSH! :D

That was a pain in the bloody arse when you respawn and try to take out mortar , logged in a 2nd controller for that too so the bastard didn't regen on me.

I completely forgot that tere where gravediggers in the game until you mentioned them, didn't see one in that area and I think they only spawn there, surprised they don't drop anything good..... or did they?

I'm not exaggerating... I don't even think I had a single blue drop from an enemy in Sawtooth Cauldron (a few from loot chests). Maybe a grenade mod or possibly a class mod for a different class, but no guns. Only purple I saw was a player skin I earned for completing a challenge (absorbing bullets with The Sham. I never used to use absorb shields before). Maybe if you die, it decreases the chance of good drops. I probably died once in every area.

Having horrible luck with loot drops in UVHM altogether. Even in Marcus's storeroom after Control Core Angel, a few blue class mods, and the rest of the loot chests were pretty much all greens (maybe one etech).

The Gravediggers aren't even too bad. Those Scavengers though just run so far away and stay behind cover that as soon as you get close enough to do proper damage (as if you're too far away, the amount you hit them isn't enough to counteract their health regen), they run away again and stay behind cover. Once you go into FFYL, there's no point even trying to kill them.

At least the next mission is mostly bots and stuff. Slagga and Corrosive will take care of most fairly quickly.

Having rubbish luck re: loot myself, the only semi reliable farming run is the 4 loot midgets using the dorctors orders quest trick, I get something in 1 in 4 runs.

People were saying Pete is a goldmine, maybe with 4 people but for me solo or 2 players, his drop rate is well down on TVHM. In UVHM he is dropping the same hoplite and blaster shields or o-negative grenade mods every time. In about 15 kills the only legendary I got was a slag nasty surprise grenade mod which is quite cool against groups or enemies in cover.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,219 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Data Mining mission done. Wasn't too hard, though Saturn took a lot of ammo to go down. Rest of the Constructors weren't too much hassle (though I will admit, as none of the enemies had spawned, I just ran in and out of the third pumping station without killing anyone, then drove off when they did spawn).

Last mission tonight. Should be Level 56 after it. Don't know whether to then reset the missions in order to get to Level 61 (and hopefully start finding some good loot), or do the Torgue DLC so I can unlock Pete and the Bar Brawl and use them to level up.

Does anyone know if resetting resets the side missions as well, or is it just the main story missions?
