    As an antidote to the negativity on the Irish Rail closures thread, it's interesting to see that the recently published Translink network statement outlines some interesting future investments in NI.

    The current funded work programme includes:
    * Track safety work on the Antrim-Lisburn branch
    * Track improvements between Lurgan and Lisburn
    * On-going upgrade work between Coleraine and Derry
    * More Park & Rides

    The longer term plans include:
    * Dualling the Dargan Viaduct
    * Dualling Monkstown to Antrim
    * Reopening the Antrim-Lisburn branch
    * Cross-border speed upgrades
