I'm gonna put this message here #2 in line, and then delete it.

I'll then restore it when there's a mention of "happy ending" - just to prove how fecking obvious this forum has become.

    OK.. GO!

I got a short demo of Reiki before and I don't remeber it being a massage as such.

It was more the person waving their hands in close proximity to my body. Energy fields and what not biggrin.gif. Hope its what you were expecting.

Just spotted this. I think I am gonna go for it cause I have heard people talking about it but what exactly is a Reiki Massage?? Is it like normal massage?

I've had one done before. It's................strange. Believe me I went in going "yeah right 'oooh Mr Wavey Hand man is going to swish his arms around and cleanse my auras'' pffffft'

But I'm not sure if it was psychosomatic but definitely felt a little giddy and light (there's no other way I can put it!).

Just to inform you it's not hands on massage at all.

    More on it here.

we got 3 sessions on our newborn and since the last session she's slept between 8-12 hours every night and thats 5 months ago now

I wouldnt have had much faith in that sort of thing before that.
Worked wonders with a friends 5 year old too that kept wetting himself several times daily, 1 session and since has had only 1 wetting accident in the last 3 months....

Really?? I have been to a variety of specialists for our little man as he just won't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time. I wonder if they will do it on him with this deal? Deal ends tonight so can't check with the Reiki Centre itself before. I think I'll take a chance and book it.

Thanks for the advice fingers crossed there are a few nights sleep coming my way soon :D

Forum must have had a "brain-fart" earlier as there was a double dupe. Missed the second duplicate though! :o

Well rang the Reiki Centre after Xmas for a session and asked her if she could do me a special deal as I had just lost my job... she did it for €25 and I found it so beneficial that i booked a second treatment and she did it for the same price. think its just a matter of saying it to her. Found it brilliant. Well worth a visit in my opinion.

be interested in how it was brilliant, does it help you give up smoking, lose weight or something?

My 5 week old has very bad Collic.. I brought her to The Reiki Centre for three sessions and I have to say, I was amazed. She is now so much better and is sleeping now.. i am going to bring her again in a week or so. Also going to get a treatment for myself as I haven't been sleeping either.

Was never into that sort of thing before but there you go.. Don't knock it til you try it.

I found it good as I was suffering from depression after losing my job. I couldn't see the wood for the trees. It helped give me clarity and begin to move forward.

The lady said it heals on 4 levels, emotionally, spiritually, physically and mentally so in regards to question about helping with weight loss... if your weight gain was attached to your emotions then yes, I'd say give it a go...

That's where I went, I'm amazed with how this Reiki works... I've been trawling through the internet since I've had the session done, reading stories on how its helped people.. Its astonishing some of the stories..

Sit and meditate for an hour as I'm sure you can arouse the same feelings without having to suffer the economic con. As a person of Indian origin, I'm amazed how willing everyone here (and the rest of the west) is to jump at anything eastern, no matter how ridiculously blatant the pseudo-science is. From eating your afterbirth to joining an ashram, people will do just about anything if you tell them an anecdotal story to go with it.

    Here:
Effects of reiki in clinical practice: a systematic review of randomised clinical trials
    M. S. Lee, M. H. Pittler, E. Ernst
Article first published online: 10 APR 2008

    Conclusion:
"the evidence is insufficient to suggest that reiki is an effective treatment for any condition. Therefore the value of reiki remains unproven."

The funny thing is, I feel like back home, we're all mostly aware of this. We kind of laugh at the foreigners going bat**** crazy around us. Yet millions flock to "spiritual" leaders, so called gurus, mas, babas, ashrams, whatever. They end up broke and broken. Stop giving into this madness.

    Eat, Pray, Cult.
(and yes, there's actually a cult associated with the book/movie, of course. Siddha Yoga, a brutal sect that exploited countless of women, children, men, and families-physically, sexually and financially)

Save your hard earned euros! Or give them to me and I'll wave my hands at you for an hour and tell you all about the chi I just transferred to you. :)

And for those claiming stories of healing. The human body cures 90% of illness and problems on it's own. It just takes it's own time. It's when you let others take credit for that healing, that you get taken advantage of. For the other 10%, western medicine is your best bet. Trust your GP/doctor. ;)

Can you take your theories of the massage to a more appropriate forum, please? This is Bargain Alerts.

If I want to discuss the relevant merits of alternate medicine, I won't be coming to B.A.

    Thanks
