How do you find the LHD? and where did it come from?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,456 ✭✭✭✭Mr Benevolent

Yes it will, less air resistance! :D

You'd think so, but at speed an ant could walk up the bonnet and onto the roof without a care in the world due to boundary layer effect. The dirt would have to be over 1.5mm thick before there'd be an appreciable drag increase :D

The old one grew on me eventually, especially the saloon. I know it gets Noddy comments but it appeals to me.

I'm from Denmark originally and actually brought a T4 with me over here, when I moved to Ireland. I didn't drive a RHD until about 1 1/2 years after I moved here.

Both the Rocco and the Caravelle are LHD. I bought the Caravelle from a german couple in Carlow, that had it from new. And I don't mind it at all, because I'm sitting high enough to look over most cars. With trucks, you just have to take the advantage of looking on the inside in corners or to basically use the max of space to the middle line. In general, it isn't an issue. The thing that was the seller to me, was the fact it has full climate control, which is rare, was perfectly maintained and decent priced.

I wouldn't want to drive a LHD car as a daily over here, the T4 is ok. Also, I use the Caravelle for travelling, most of it on the continent. So it's perfect.

The Rocco is french. Bought it of a dutch fella near Loughrea.

*May be related to quantitative imbibing of Black Bush and Galway Hooker.

I checked already. There's no oil on the gearbox anyway.

Seriously, I recommend Galway Hooker, it's a very tasty beer if you're fan of something a good bit better than Heineken.

Heineken is well overrated. Much better beers to be had around Europe especially in Germany. German Beer ftw!

I'm not much of a drinker but my favourite beer is Hoegaarden.

Did you not have a 318is, not a 318ci? That got run into the back of on the N7?

You're right - good catch there.

Anyway - do rental cars count in this thread? Currently in the states for work and driving a Chevy Cruize from Hertz. It's such a flipping tin can - so light. The automatic gear box sucks, but on the plus side it does have cruise control and is pretty comfortable inside

I got it all nicely inside the lines when I brought it back (that's more than can be said for my own car).

That is some animal go TT, cheers for the spin.
