It looks like June/July for M8 Portlaoise-Cullahill (completing dublin-cork)
and November for M7 Portlaoise-Castletown.

fresca, just took your post and edited the predicted openings in crono order and broke the M50 into 2 dates as there's 2 major junction upgrades left on that still.

Does anyone have a map showing the roads completed to date, those due to finish this year and planned schemes? Trying to find one but can't.

Any idea how many kms of motorway/HQDC will be built by year's end?

Check out http://www.openstreetmap.org/ it maps the irish motorways and is updated pretty quickly once a route comes online.
For some schemes in progress the routes are mapped (dotted lines) - but you have to zoom in for these.
Also, check out the nra site for documentation on km's of mtorway/hqdc.

Here's the charts for north & south respectively.

Note that it doesn't include U/C or planned schemes, and counts reclassified schemes as new builds. Might use the table function to create a more accurate graph at some stage (i.e. there should be a drop in DC during the motor reclassification years)

There's talk of a May 17 opening for the M3 over on the M3 thread. There's a charity cycle event planned for Sunday 16th of May on the route so it sounds like an opening on Monday the 17th. No further confirmation yet on that date and thats only speculation based on the timing of these types of events on other motorway sections.

Gort - Crusheen is looking more and more likely to be before Galway Races 2010. That starts on July 26th, so presumably the week before.

So what about 2011 or 2012 openings? Once the list of roads above are opened, what's left? All the interurbans will be done. It looks like there will be a major drop in road building and investment, which is understandable considering the lack of funds but there must be some stuff still going on.
Are any of these likely to happen?

N11 upgrades
Newlands Cross Interchange - badly needed
Galway Outer Bypass (please please)
M7 Naas by-pass to 3 lanes
M18/M17 and Tuam Claregalway bypasses
M20
N4 Mullingar to Sligo
Are there any other smaller schemes under way or due to start soon.

The above summary is largely on point - though I'd say the M20 will be more like 2014 before you see any work.

But I'm still convinced that a handful of minor single carriageway bypasses will probably start each year, funded out of the regular budget (i.e., not PPP). Lots are ready to go.
