Usual scenario.. You are shipwrecked on an island .. with a record player and 10 albums for the rest of your life.. What albums would you have..

In no particular order.. and I'd miss sooooo many other, but I'm actually surprised, as some albums I have not listened to in years

    1. Squire - Big Smashes
    2. Metallica - S&M
    3. Aslan - Made in Dublin
    4. Billy Bragg - Victim of Geography
    5. Radiohead - The Bends
    6. The Levellers - Levelling the Land
    7. Guns and Roses - Appetite for Destruction
    8. The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
    9. Megadeth - Youthanasia
    10. Frank Black - Teenager of the Year

If you're going to be stuck on a desert island you might as well keep it as varied as possible.

Robert Johnson - The Complete Recordings
All the blues you could ever need. There's quite a lot of music on this and it should satisfy my blues fix whenever I need it.

Napalm Death - From Enslavement To Obliteration
Should sort out my metal cravings on that desert island. Plus if I start going crazy and feel the need to kill everyone else on the island this will be the perfect soundtrack to do so.

Black Flag - The First Four Years
My punk fix. Will also provide my soundtrack for being angry at the system for no clear reason on that desert island.

Camera Obscura - Let's Get Out Of This Country
This album makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and I never get sick of it no matter how many times I listen to it. Living on that desert island is going to be harsh and this album will make it all seem okay.

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92
The perfect electronic fix. It's an album that almost feels timeless and never fails to sound awesome after repeated listening.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven
Got to bring some good post-rock too. Plus when you've finished listening to this four-year long album you would have forgotten you were on a desert island.

The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Still one of my favourite albums of all time and I wouldn't be stranded on a desert island without it.

    The Cure - Disintegration
    (see above)

    Boredoms - Vision Creation Newsun
Shit's going to get weird on that desert island so you might as well bring some weird shit too. With all that time on my hands on that island I just might be able to figure out what the hell is going on here on this album.

Ocean Colour Scene - Moseley Shoals
Might as well bring some shit music too. When you're stuck on an island with a limited selection of music you are going to get sick of them all soon enough. By listening to this it will remind me that the other nine albums were good choices and that I should never get sick of them.

    My mind changes all the time as I hear new albums and my taste becomes more varied, at the moment;

Kate Bush - Never For Ever

Nice album to listen to any day, very diverse sound overall with some heavier tracks and some more mellow and waltz-like

Jimmy MacCarthy - The Song of The Singing Horseman

My favourite songwriter, and a great debut filled with some cool Spanish guitar riffs, nice mix overall, some really folkey songs and other heavy piano tunes

Public Enemy - Yo! Bum Rush The Show

The group that finally got me into rap music, and the one to satisfy my rap needs on a deserted island

    Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway

Album filled with nice pop tunes, some heartfelt and others more upbeat

    Leonard Cohen - Old Ideas

A bit of dark mature songwriting to contrast with my more poppier choices like mentioned above

    Radiohead - Kid A

There's so much underground music I've started listening to that I wouldn't be able to bring, but this album sums it all up for me

Coldplay - A Rush of Blood To The Head

Great mix of acoustic and ballad type pop-rock, with a shift toward stadium music with songs like "Politik" and "A Whisper"

    Elliott Smith - Figure 8

Nice relaxing, American-style acoustic guitar music. Bit of pop and rock influences there as well, which blend in well with the craft of the songs

Roy Orbison - Roy Orbison at The Rock House

Love the early rock and roll, and rhythm-driven element to this album. Shift to country, in places too which I like

Robbie Williams - Reality Killed The Video Star

Best mix of the music styles Rob sampled in his career, with some more adult contemporary songs and a bit of electronic influence on songs like "Bodies"
