Sky programming is encrypted with DVB VideoGuard from NDS. There is no way of de-crypting this signal using anything other than a digibox, so DVB PC cards will not allow you to store, save or watch sky encrypted programmes. You are only able to record FTA ones, which are in MPEG 2 format.

According to a thread on another website someone has produced a CAM for NDS videoguard ($Ky's scrambling system) this in itself wont enable to watch $ky without paying (not that anyone arould here would advocate such a thing like  ) but would enable the viewing of $ky programmes on non-$ky approved equipment. Whether $ky can legally do anything about this development is unclear ?

What is clear though is that discussion about methods to view $ky or other encrypted channels illegally is not allowed on this and most other forums. I used to put this down to paranoia on the part of the site moderators but seemingly their paranoia is well founded since there are EU laws against diseminnating such information.

Welcome to the Orwellian police state Freedom of speech (just watch what you say)

Get a DVB card with CI slot.
    Get a dragon cam
...you can then use your official sky FTV/subscription card to to watch programs.

There's no guarantee as to how long that'll work though so you'd do so at your own risk.
