Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

How strict are they on 16s I.D in cinemas

    Hi. I am planning to go see The Inbetweeners 2 which is 16 in Dundrum with a friend. I am only 15 but can pass for 16 (as can my friend) though I am concerned that they will ask for I.D. How strict will the staff at a cinema be regarding showing I.D. for 16s movies?

    You might be ok, depends on who you meet in the ticket office I guess. One way to find out is just go for it, nothing to lose really.

    If you want to be sure though, just sit on your friends shoulders and wear a really big coat so it looks like one giant person. For extra effect, consider a fake moustache. Also, greet the teller with something like... "good afternoon young lady"

    Just book online, I doubt the person who lets you into the screen will even consider your age.

    Borrow a parent's or older sibling's and just give them the money for it. That's what I used to do.

    Anyone with a bank account should have a visa debit card at this stage.

    Dundrum almost always have an usher checking student IDs after the ticket desk, so I'd imagine they'd be strict with age ratings too.

    How close are you to 16? If all else fails you could show them a real ID and they may not figure out it says 15 rather than 16

    Just pay for a kiddie movie, then walk into the inbeteeeners movie when you're past the usher. It's what I used to do.

    Show them a fake Id and when that fails grab a fistful of popcorn and throw it at the and run into the screen showing you're movie it's dark in there they will never find ya ;-)

    In my day you just needed to know the correct year of birth to allow you to watch whatever film you wanted to see.

    My friend refused to lie once, was about two weeks short of his 12th birthday and they wouldn't let him in to watch Mars Attacks :(

    16 is such a stupid certificate anyway, it's like "Yeah we could drop the A from 15A but that would only confuse people!"

    Luckily you sound like a balanced young person & have been protected from all the nasty filth on the internet until your 16th birthday . . . . . hmmmm

    In a era where a kid can watch dwarf amputee stump porn or a beheading online in 2 clicks what's the point of age certification, it seems archaic.
    Even if they're refused entry they'll all download it for free in 2 months time anyway.
