Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Would it be possible to get notifications of your post is quoted or thanked?
    Would be a good option to have.

    Can I ask why you would want notifications that your posts had been thanked or quoted? Notifications that a thread you've posted in has been added to makes sense, as you may wish to return to further the discussion.

    Notification just to know that somebody quoted your post or thanked it on the other hand, would be extra load placed on the site that would seem to serve no purpose other than self gratification.

    Thanks is a bit... eh.
    I understand quoting. Most quoted posts are done so you can reply to them.

    But you can still check your posts that are quoted/liked under your profile.

    If you posted something incredibly witty or insightful or whatever, do you really want to receive a couple of hundred notifications, each simply telling you that another person has thanked your post?

    I'd never get anything done if I got a notification every time I got thanked. Would probably bring down the servers trying to keep up :)
