Why the rise in diesel recently? It was usually around 10c cheaper but it seems to have overtaken petrol recently

Diesel always rises this time of year due to the surge in home heating oil usage. They are manufactured in the same way/process.

Still cheaper in some places. The more you go west though it gets extremely expensive

    Maxol - Dooradoyle

    Diesel 146.9
    Petrol 146.9

There's only a certain (3 afaik) number of Diesel producers in Europe and only one company in Scotland. They're currently in the process of building or comtemplating building a new plant, however this could take upto 5 yrs. I've been told that they are well aware of how the supply of diesel is running low and that there notion of rationing is on the cards for the future, but that they will be increasing the price of the diesel first.

To be honest, Raheen/Dooradoyle and the Dock road are the last places I would buy fuel. Their prices are generally on a different planet.

I was surprised to see that the prices in Limerick County (Adare, Newcastlewest, Templegatine, Abbeyfeale) were dearer than the city

Cheapest place for diesel this week??

It has come down to 145.9 from 147.9 in the last day or so, could it drop even more?

I think this is a bit mad .

    Texaco Roxboro Unleaded 147.9
    Topaz Roxboro Unleaded 153.9

They are around the corner from each other and still there was people in the Topaz getting petrol .

Fools and their money will always part ways.

Topaz (formally Esso) at Singland Motors, Dublin Road were still 146.9 for diesel and petrol yesterday. Maxol across the road were 151.9 yet fools were still in there.

They must have put it up that evening then as it was definately 146.9 at lunch time yesterday when I was passing.

Amber 149 for petrol and 147 for Diesel. Thats both Amber on the Old Cork Road and Amber at Monaleen stores too. Topaz in Roxboro was 153.9 for both this evening. Big difference. Stupid VAT

Best to keep this going to keep an eye out there on the station cartel. Emo Clare Street 157.9 the other day, Chawkes water was 161.9

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

Station just beyond the Georgian village on the Ballyneety road is 157.9 for unleaded as well.

Amber (Old Cork Rd), Apple Green (Corbally) and that Emo (Clare Street) seem to be always 1 or 2 cent cheaper than most places. Have heard terrible things about the Emo but would take it with a pinch of salt as I have heard the testing of the pumps etc... can be very stringent.

And there are always cars at the pumps filling up.

Can never understand why people would pay more when just 200 yards up the road there is a station that is 4 or 5 cent cheaper per litre.
