    Hey ladies,

wanted to check this out for myself so went into the body clinic on Wicklow Street yesterday for advice etc..... Most interesting part I thought was they have a sale on laser hairremoval on until March. 70% off (its still very expensive tho after this discount)

the lip is €160 ( I think somewhere in that region anyway if I got it wrong) for a 6 week course. Extended bikini line was €700.....

Heard of another good deal from a girl in work. Its a place in Dundrum who give you a 2 yr guarentee....so basically you pay for your 6week course and they give you a guarentee that it doesn't come back but if it does they'l keep doing it without any extra cost, until its gone.

    So redheads are bad candidates?
I would like to get it done, not necessarily down 'there' but that's kinda crappy.

I know, it would be absolute heaven to not have to shave your legs or underarms again. :(

This may sound odd but the first thing that popped into my head on reading the OP is this: Doesn't it look like you're pre-pubescent down there now??? and forever? I just think that's a little weird but hey, if guys (and you) like that, fair enough!

I disagree that it's 'weird', but I suppose it's a matter of taste. If my husband came home with the same thing done, 'pre-pubescence' wouldn't spring to my mind I have to say..

As I said I'm married so don't have to worry about male reaction, my husband likes it so that's good enough for me... Also, aesthetics was not the only reason, it's more hygienic, tidy(!) and definitely more cost effective, so I'm as happy as Larry. For me it's more about the wearer than the looker, if men don't lke it they can go jump! ;)

    Pubic hair isn't "unhygienic" though.

'Hygienic' is probably the wrong word...... 'cleaner' and easier to manage I spose is what I mean...... (maybe I had more than you - another one of my reasons for getting it done)
.... (Jaysus I sound like I was Rapunzel down there or something!!)scarlaaaah:o

what do you ladies all think of laser hair removal down below? Would love to hear opinions and gauge if many poeple are getting it done.

I wanted to get it done for ages, mainly because I was sick of waxing and then getting ingrown hairs etc. So last November I took the plunge and went for a consultation and patch test. I intitally only wanted a 'short, back and sides' job but then they asked me did I want a 'thong' line - it meant I'd never have to wax again no matter how skinny the bikini bottom was LOL - so I said why not. You have to have 6 sessions - one every month. On the second session I decided I wanted rid of more so opted for Brazilian, then on third sessions I said ah feck it - take it all! Just finished 4th session and hair is virtually gone. However it's only now that I'm realising it's gone forever and I'm panicking thinking 'what if I want it back later in life, like when I'm a granny!!?? and 'Will it look attractive when I'm 78' - not likely... The advantages are great - much more hygenic, don't have to worry about stray hairs stick out from the side etc, but the downside is people's opinions - I get stared at by other women in the changing room of the gym like I'm a porn star or something (i'm not btw! :p). I thought the procedure was much more common.... no?? Has anyone esle got it done or thinking about getting it done? Do people think it' weird to get it done?

    thanks for reading!

I'm currently having it done on my underarms and find it great. Had four sessions since last summer and need another two or three but the difference is amazing !!! :D Would love to get it done on legs and down there too ... if I was rich !!! :(
I find it quite sore I have to say, particularly near the sensitive bits:eek:

I found it sore on my underarms the first time, then it was fine the next two times and sore the last time for some reason. Hmmmm.

just confused...the OP wrote a brazilian was 550 at bodyclinic...but then somebody else checked it out and it was 700 euro there???

I'd definitely want to try it ...550 sounds good but 700 is a bit of a stretch.

    can somebody confirm the price?

you're better off just calling them as there's so many options (bikini, thong, brazilian, hollywood) - All I know is I'm gettng the dearest one (at €700) so Brazilian has to be cheaper...
and to confuse you even more...:) I was told there's different types of Brazilians e.g. 'landing strip' which is just a thin line of hair left, or a good bit left on top but underneath hair is all removed.... ah decisions, decisions:rolleyes:

Once agian, and I know I've said it in previous posts I LOVE IT! CAN'T STOP LOOKING AT IT!! LOL ;):D:cool::p

    Hi all,

Has anyone tried the Laser hair removal machine sold by Argos? I just got one at 300€ having had about enough of paying an enormous amount for salon treatment (laser works really well on my type of hairs, so I figured what the h...) every time, I probably only need another couple of sessions on the bits I've started doing but I guessed for that price I could do all the rest too!

It doesn't work. Seriously, I'm doing everything as explained in the book, and as I said, I have already done this in a salon and it doesn't feel the same at all, it barely gets warm, and flashes lights... No redness, no heat, and no hairs gone, not one, even after leaving it for a week. I'm wondering if I just got a dud or if the product is just a rip-off. I mean I wouldn't have kicked up a fuss for a disappointing 5€ magic dusting broom but for a 300€ electronic product that does nothing, I'm going straight back there to take it back, but I'm wondering whether to get a refund or a replacement.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Poukai,

i reckon you got ripped off. Salons woudn't be able to charge the fees they do for laser if you could just by the same standard machine on the high-street yourself. Before I decided to get laser I did some research on the tehnology my salon uses (can't remember the name of it now!) so I googled it and the machines cost tens of thousands.... so for €300 I'd say you didn't get a dud you just got a fairly sh1t product unfortunately!

Years ago I bought a similar product from Argos (a little pen for lip hair removal), it was only about 25 quid but it was utter rubbish - a total gimmick!

Try and get your money back before it's too late! ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37 poukai

Yeah, thanks for that... It was worth a try, laser technology has come a long way in the last few years with smaller salons being able to afford good quality machines, I guessed one with a smaller head and reduced functionality at that price might be possible. It certainly looks like a serious product, it's not just a light-weight gadget, it looks really professional, it just doesn't work. If it had been any cheaper I certainly wouldn't have bothered...

But yeah, I'm going back to Argos on Friday to yell at them and get a refund. I think I'll spend that money on my gym subscription, they have a beauty salon there that does hair removal and as a member I'll get 10% off, and I get gym lessons, swimming and workout facilities, so it's probably a much better investment!

DetectiveFoxTrot, from what I've been told, you won't have to worry when you are 70, apparently it gets thinner and thinner and you often end up without hair there! Gee if you'd waited a few decades you could have saved yourself some money!!! :D

LOL. no way, I want it gone. Nearly there too! couldn't wait a few decades!:D

First - if a product doesn't do what it says it's supposed to do then you are entitled to a full refund in the same way you paid for it (cash/card etc)get a refund, any products sold to the general public like the one you bought are generally weaker versions because of the damage they can do in the wrong hands !
Secondly - don't worry about what other people think !! u never know they might be admiring it instead of frowning on it !!!!!

I don't quite get what this has to do with my post, I wasn't worrying about what people think, just asking if anyone else had used this particular machine to see if mine was just broken or if the whole thing was a rip off...
