    Hi OP,

    If it were me I wouldnt go looking for a particular breed, all dogs are different it doesnt just depend on the breed. What county are you in?

    Your best bet would be to enquiry at your local shelters, most will have dogs in foster homes and will be able to recommend certain dogs that are good with children, other dogs, cats etc.

    Dogs in Distress might be a good start, all their dogs are in foster homes as they dont have a rescue centre.

    or this website, you can search by breed or area;

    There are loads of options here!! You can get a puppy but you will need to have the time to do all of the house training and socialisation with the pup as well as working with your children on how to interact with the puppy. You could opt for a dog that is a little bit older and who has already been house trained. You could have a look at www.dogsinidstress.org/forum and view the dogs they have for homing. They do not have a shelter and all of the dogs and puppies are in foster care so living in a family environment which can be a great way of finding a dog or pup that is going to fit with your family!! Such an exciting time though happy searching!!:D

    oppsies just saw TillyGirls post too but I second that I adopted from Dogs in Distress and had loads of info on my dog before we adopted her!

    Link to similiar thread last week.

    Staffordshire Bull terriers and Greyhounds would be my recommendation. Both very good with children and great temperments.

    I would have to emphasise the rescue route though also as most rescues will assess the dogs and determine if they are good with children. Lots of Staffies and Greys in the rescues as well :)

    Best of luck with your search :)
