Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

MDMA and fast pulse rates.

    Have dealt with a few people on MDMA recently and find it near impossible to get a accurate manual pulse,Have to resort to checking pulse oximeter and normally get readings of 150 plus.
    Is it just bad technique with me or when it goes that high is it a case that machines are the only accurate way of getting a reading?

    Don't worry about your technique, remember that these users are running rates where you are trying to count forty or more beats in 15 seconds. Stick the probe on then feel for a radial pulse and see if it matches with the rate you see on the screen.

    Ya exactly what I do most of the time! Just remember to feel the pulse for a bit to check if its regular/irregular and if the probe is roughly correct. Remember they are left in freezing conditions in ambulance & kit bags alot so can tend to be inaccurate sometimes!

    And you'd often be surprised in the difference between the cheap Chinese probes and the one off the lifepak/heartstart.
