    The yoke I fly, and the ape who controls it. Having said that, I haven't been airborne in 6 months due to work!

    Nice photo ned78. The aircraft i mean:D . it's an rv-4 right?
    I've seen on the vans site it can fly across half north america in one day:eek:
    You could build one of those kits with your skills:)

    sorry grob 115

    Is that Grob still flying? Thought it might have been written off due to an impact with the runway. If not, repairs to the composite fuselage would be very difficult.

    The little Grob was introduced to the runway by a Student alright, but it went to the UK for repairs. AFAIK, the RAF use them for training, so it's probably not the first time it's happened to one of them.

    Macshadow, your faith in my skills in impressive ... more so than my own! I wouldn't mind trying it though if I had 40k lying around for a kit.

    Correct, the E version where it is known as the Grob Tutor.

    Bearing in mind Jakey's fab find, I have aviation photos, not taken by me but given to me by my late father. Will a couple of them do?

    No reply to my question so I'll assume it's 'Yes'.
    Poor little Shorts Skyvan got a bit bent through a hard landing, Oman, 1980s, and needed a ride back to base;

    And this Bell 205 chopper likewise;

    Was your dad a pilot in the RAF Radioretro? Was at my grans funeral a few years back and met one of my mum's uncles who flew spitfires in the RAF during WW2. What a job eh.

    Just noticed this thread. The shape of the rotor blades in the pic of the S61 is not the way they are. As Dave said, they were taken with a basic digital camera. The "scan" of the shutter across the CCD takes time, and while this is happening, the fast moving rotor moves, giving this effect. If you look at the tail rotor, you'll see that the blades are out of position, for the same reason. In reality, the tail boom would be shaken off if they were this unbalanced.

    And they say the camera never lies ...
