Things you've grown immune to

Ive been working in a very well known clothing store in town (DUBLIN) for the last year and a half and will more than likely be there until I finish college (hopefully). Anyway, when I started there I was a shy 17 year old, the 1st customer to yell at me ruined my entire week and nearly made me quit the job.

But, over the last year I've been spat at, shouted at, threatened, pushed and been degraded by all types of abuse. Although initially this always annoyed me and made me very angry now I notice I can be shouted at, threatened ect... and have a day dream while its all going on. Its great, even when i'm not in work and someone is having a pop at me (dublin bus eeh), I seem to be immune to it.

So is there anything else you've grown immune to?

I pretty much the same, got all types of abuse when working in Burger King, don't work there now but still have the thick skin. I love laughing and smiling when someone's being a dick to you, nearly makes their head explode.:D

The news, I'm so apathetic towards it now that I couldn't give two fiddlers about the economy, recessions, banks, politicians, jobs all that jazz.

Used to work in a hospital and grew immune to disgusting stuff like poo and blood. I could be eating lunch and have go to change the dressing on an oozing wound and then go back to lunch again (after washing my hands).

Really bizzare porn. We used to have a game to see who could find the most degrading, bizzare and shocking video on the web.

*sits in dark room, staring out the window*

My God, the things I've seen..............made 2Girls1Cup seem timid when it 1st appeared.............the horror................the horror!

Now, I find them quite funny, the levels that people will degrade themselves to for pleasure is unbelievable. Those Japs, Brazilians and Germans are quite inventive when it comes to warped minds.

Both parents were psychiactric nurses and we took care of my granny while alzheimer's ate her away to nothing. It was always me and one of the parents who took care of her at the one time. Strange stuff to adjust to when your growing up seeing a person dwindle away to a vegetable.

I've become immune to the fact that a significant number of Irish people seem at best oblivious to, at worst to revel in, the shíte state of our society.

Are you serious? If anyone treated me like that when I was working they'd be dead before their bodies hit the floor.

Worked in the pub trade for 8 years from my mid teens to early twenties and pretty much grew immune to any type of abuse, everything from little scumbags demanding drink even though they were very clearly underage and then hurling abuse when I refused to drunken dickheads throwing bottles and glasses at me because I refused to serve them drink after closing hours..

From there I moved into IT.. so naturally you get abuse hurled at you as some idiot turns on you because of course its my fault he didn't back up his PC, stored everything locally and the hard drive fails..

So yes, you could say I am immune to abuse..

Yeah, its amazing the thing you have to put up with for such a small amount of money, but as I said, I can take it so much now it really can't effect me anymore. Although when they become physical by pushing, poking or invading your personal space it can be hard to hold back.

Amen to that shìt. It's always our fault when you download dodgy shìt, infect the network and then huff and puff when we're "taking too long" fixing the mess you created.

Never ceases to amaze me, once you've had a woman screaming at you to delay the first showing of Gladiator on opening night because her husband is running late and "really wants to see it" you learn to just laugh at people stupid requests, working in a cinema was at once the best and worst job ever.
