I remember reading an old sci fi comic from the early 80's about a boy who has a broken leg or arm and is in a cast. Then all his family and friends are wearing casts too and take them off to reveal giant insect limbs. Does anyone here have a notion about what I am talking about?

Sounds like a story in "Tharg's Future Shock's", which appeared in 2000ad.

Yes, that looks like the artwork from it alright, but I can't seem to find the story online at all.
