Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Hello all,

    I'm a research student specilizing in game audio. I'm just curious to see
    what people primarly use when listen to games while playing, such as 5.1 surround sound, heaphones, or stereo?

    I've only included these but I do have a 4th option, 'other' which would be 7.1, or surround sound headphones.

    Would be greatly appreciated if you could participate!

    Also, I'm leaving the poll open for 2 weeks.

    I wish it was that easy, I will be running experiments, this is just to get a general idea. Internet polls aren't much use in the academic world sadly. :D

    I'd suggest you categorize it a bit more: I expect PC gamers are more likely to use headphones, while console gamers will use whatever is rigged up to their TV. Few enough would have the whole surround sound rig-up specifically for gaming.

    Using a HTPC so I just have standard 2.1 speakers at the moment..

    Will be upgrading to 5.1 eventually, though.
