I'm still wondering what I was doing in that twitter section of FSM. I'll have to buy it.

Anyone know if Eason's sells it?

From the file marked: "We should have kept our big mouths shut", The Observer reports that updated buys for Wrestlemania 28 are down from original projections. Current estimate is 1,144,000 (670k domestic), meaning that it falls well short of the 2007 Worldwide Record (and 1.3 million).

On the bright side, WWE Over The Limit drew 171,000 (123k domestic) which is WAY up from the 2011 event which drew 145,000 (72k domestic). The increase is all domestic. International purchasers clearly had no interest in Cena/Laurinitis, but the match was a comparative hit (against 2011) with North American viewers.
And a hearty congratulations to the PW Boards.ie podcast panel who correctly predicted 1.1m buys

THEY DID IT!

(if you round up)

Quote:
WrestleMania 28, based on what are likely final numbers at this point, since the show was almost seven months ago, did end up as the single most purchased pro wrestling PPV event in history.

The updated numbers, including late recorded buys over six months after the show, had it doing 1,253,000 buys, beating out the record set by the 2007 Donald Trump show of 1,250,000 buys. So technically, they did end up being able to round the number up to 1.3 million when all was said and done and claim it was the biggest of all-time.

The breakdown for this year’s show headlined by John Cena vs. The Rock was 733,000 domestic and 520,000 international. The international number would be the all-time record by a significant amount. There have been a few shows over the years that have beaten the domestic number, including the 1989 Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage, the 2001 Rock vs. Steve Austin and the 2007 Trump show. The Trump show, with the main selling point a match with Bobby Lashley vs. Umaga with the hair of Trump and the hair of Vince McMahon at stake, with Steve Austin as referee, broke down as 825,000 domestic and 425,000 international.

This year’s show was at a higher price tag than in 2007 and grossed significantly more money. The domestic price tag increased from $49.95 to $54.95, but this year also had 34 percent of the orders at $64.95 due to HD. But you could argue the 2007 number is more impressive given significantly less international clearance.
