HTC One X : Backlight Flickering.

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem?
It is starting to really annoy me now.

Flickering is noticeable on photos and particularly on grey.
Gives a strobing affect. (to be fair it is faint enough at lower brightnesses)

Will get up to Meteor and exchange it at some stage hopefully but not looking forward to it.

    My firmware is 1.28.401.9.

It's a shame, otherwise this phone is perfect.

Exchange it, it's not meant to flicker at any colour or brightness setting.

Yeah I have it at the max brightness right now and it's ridiculously bad.
Better get about reformatting SD and reverting to factory settings.

Not really. The minority with problems are always the noisiest. My One X and most others are perfect.

I'd say there are quite a few who don't realise they have the problem too.
When I first contacted HTC support they advised that I exchange the handset.
A few days later I asked them if their support position has changed in recent days given the update on may 2nd of the thread that I linked in the OP.

    (excerpt:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617009)
    Update - 2 May...

Just had a call from Robert Collins at HTC. Apparently they know what's causing it and are working on a fix. 1.29 is not an attempt at fixing the flicker but another update is coming soon.

They said that they could still not confirm whether it was a software or hardware problem and that they coundn't comment on that thread as it wasnt an official HTC press release.

    MY Plan.
Is to wait on this newer release and see from the changelog whether the backlight flicker/strobing is addressed.
But Ultimately to replace my phone < 27 days from date of purchase.

I'll repeat that until the problem is addressed - or until the SG3 is released. To be honest I would prefer to stick with the One X.

Bought it off someone else so no idea when they got it....and no receipt :-( Is there a definitive way to test for it?

    Cheers,

The new update (1.29.401.11, not 1.29.401.7 which arrived yesterday) includes a fix for it.

Cheers, any way to force a check for the update?

    All the best,

Unfortunately no. The only way you'll get it early is if you unlock the bootloader and flash it manually.
