No BBC did a history of the human race, I can't remember the name of the guy that narrated he does allot of human body/mind stuff for the BBC. He has a mustache. I can't find his name on the BBC website even though all the pictures are from that documentary. I think I heard it there.

Edit: bottom of the page, like in the show it was brief of the cuff with no backup. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/prehistoric_life/human/human_evolution/ice_people1.shtml

Are you thinking of Prof Robert Winston?

Neanderthals still exist. Plenty of them to be seen in chippers up and down the country at around 3am on a Saturday night. They're usually dragging their knuckles along the ground.

    and other people's faces.

Are you sure you are not referring to the Moors invading Italy? Basically Italians were allegedly originally quite Aryan, (not in the Nazi sense that came later), but in the Blond hair, Blue Eyes, pale Complexion way.

But the Moors invaded rode the Italian Women like crazy and from then on because they did it for a good while, alot of Italians, especially in the South have Dark Hair, Sallow skin, and dark eyes.

If the Italians were so pale-skinned they'd all burn up in the sun. Methinks you were confused by Roman films which have English actors with blue eyes speaking the Queen's Latin.

According to that site, it's a picture of Irish politician Patrick Ahern, which fairly well sums up the standard of the site and the views it expresses ...

his name is actually Patrick Ahern, as it happens.

it's still a hillarious website, although they forgot to mention that Amy Winehouse, as well as being a Neanderthal, is also shite, and a complete fucking moron :pac:

Neanderthals were human. Our Musculoskeletal structure just evolved over time to be what we are today.

Nope. We didn't evolve from Neanderthals. They were a different off shoot that died off, probably largely due to competition with our smart ancestors.

There are some who maintain there would have been crossbreeding, and it was possible, but genetic research has shown that if there was crossbreeding it was so rare as to leave no trace.

Pretty much, though I would still suspect there was crossbreeding. Since they've only extracted small samples of DNA from Neandertals from limited geographical sources they've not a lot to go on. The ones they checked may not have been part of the cross breeding group. There are bones that seem to show mixed features from both, specifically Neandertals that have modern moe gracile features. It could just be evidence of evolution in the neandertals though. They did get less robust over their 200,000 year history.

That's the problem though. DNA says one thing but the bones(and tools) of our ancestors say different. The out of africa theory says we are all pure descendants of that last expansion of modern humans and the DNA goes along with that. So far. The problem is that modern humans in any particular area show common features in the bones with earlier humans(specifically homo erectus) in that area, that they don't share with moderns and ancients in other areas. The kneecap and the jaw being particular shared features. An Asian erectus jawbone shares features with a modern Asian sapiens jawbone, but not with a European or African sapiens and erectus. Our evolutionary history is a fascinating one
