You'll have to stick up some pictures of that when it arrives. Was it from ebay? I've been looking there for it for ages but haven't come across one priced that reasonably.

Good work on the Gamegear/Master system converter too.

Yeah got it for ebay from a man in Germany.

Will put some pictures up next week when i get them. Will also put a few other pics up of my recent purchases.

You got my interest in hunting down a copy of Wily Wars going again. Looked all over ebay but they were either impossible to find or stupidly expensive as usual. There's a cart only version for 94 sterling and a boxed one for 200 sterling. Wtf?!

'Damn that Warren3, he stole my only chance at a cheap copy of this game' :(

70 might seem expensive for a Megadrive game..but it's an excellent price for this.

So anyway,I more or less gave up.

Was browsing through ebay Australia for some rare Australia only titles - typed 'rare megadrive' into search.

And look what pops up on the first page by some miracle of chance -

    untitled-4.jpg

My jaw actually dropped. This cannot be! Surely someone is taking the piss. Then my heart sank as I read it was for Australia only.

Tried my luck and not only was he willing to post to Ireland, he was willing to listen to a buy it now offer.

So yeah, that's how I got a mint boxed copy of Megaman: The Wily Wars (One of the rarest PAL megadrive releases) for 43 euro. (Okay so postage added another tenner from down under..but still!!)

Just picked up three Ps1 games at lunchtime there in a local Charity Shop, but just back now and the one that has caught my eye is 'Namco Museum Vol. 4'. :pac::pac:It's got Pac-Land on it!!!:pac::pac:

I never realised there was a version on any of the later Consoles, the only versions I knew of were the Nes one (bad bad bad) and I think the Amiga one. Man I can't wait to get home and stick this on! Reaffirms my idea to bring a Playstation into work and leave it upstairs in the storeroom for lunchtime retro playing goodness!

Also got Speed Freaks and WWF There Goes The Neighbourhood. All for €6.

There is a Lynx version of Pacland too, and it's nothing short of spectacular. Its also one of those Lynx games with a poster instead of a booklet. Very nice, worth looking out for.

Hopefully someday I'll get to try it out!;)

Just after getting Mega Turrican for a very good price

    322528355_tp.jpg

Ebay Australia is a goldmine for rare complete Megadrive games due to the weak weak Aus dollar.

Plus it also has that 'nobody is interested in buying this kind of item from an island' thing going that ebay Ireland has.

Just for anyone out there with a Nomad, if you still have the original screen lens..change it! The difference is amazing. And it's cheap and easy enough to do. You just prise the old one off and put the new one on. I gave my LCD a bit of a clean too while I was in there.

    DSC_0317.jpg

Should probably put up some pics of the damn thing switched on :D
What I've also done is ordered some Nintendo DS screen protectors. The one on the Nomad is very prone to marks. I compared the DS screen to the Nomad and they're almost identical in size. So it should do the trick.

Any dust you see below is on the outside and not the inside..I really should wipe things down before photographing them! :O

    DSC_0312-1.jpg

(The rainbow banding below is my camera and not the screen. For some reason it really doesn't like taking pictures of this)

Really? I have found that the Aussie dollar has risen a lot in value against the Euro recently (€1 get's you $1.60 now, got you $2 this time last year). Add that to the shipping fees and I never seem to find anything at a reasonable price there.

    PAL or NTSC?

And if PAL, where the hell did you get that for so cheap!?

Yeah but add to that the lack of bids on items. In the last few months I've bought several rare/expensive games for on average half what they'd go for on ebay.co.uk.

The postage isn't too bad. A game will usually cost between 10 - 15 euro to send. Best to buy in bulk!

  • Registered Users Posts: 351 ✭✭Warren3

I am afraid it is NTSC but still not a bad deal. Got it from ebay.com . Postage is about £4 so still not bad

Was bidding for a complete Ecco Jr on australian Ebay but was out bid while asleep. Damn that time difference. I think it went to 60 AUD in the end. Still a reasonable price for a PAL version

Hah! I was bidding on that too. After buying Wily Wars thought it went a bit out of my price range. He also had a copy of Daze Before Christmas.

Bought Mega Turrican from him instead.

Wow, o1s1n and Warren, you's buy alot of games! I hope you don't mind me asking but how much on average do you spend on games per week/month?

Jesus, now there's a question. I haven't a notion! My trick is I don't spend a lot on each item. I'll only buy something if it's cheap. If it's expensive I'm not interested. Getting stuff for a good price is half the fun of it! The only exception is specialist one of a kind items, like that modded Gameboy I picked up for making chiptunes and all the assorted bits and pieces. And all those hama beads...

I was in college for 6 years up until a year ago so was pretty much broke the whole time. It was a very long time to go without being able to buy anything. Got a decent enough job a year or so ago so I've been able to spoil myself a bit. I'm really trying to reign it in though. I was much worse about 6 months ago. Have since stopped buying arcade hardware (Apart from the odd Neo Geo game) airsoft gear and animation cels.

I'm about to hit 300 feedback on ebay (388 Feedback received in total!) and was going to try and stop once I hit that. Need to save for a deposit and get out of this dead money renting game!

Ah right. I know how it feels. I'm lucky in a way I'm still in school but I'd love a part-time job. Applied everywhere but no luck. Anyway, I have practically no money for to buy decent games. Any money I get goes on games as it is, and I always end up with nada for socialising. I was ok last christmas as I had a temp. job but during the summer I've ended up with feck all money due to having to pay 2,300 for car insurance :( Anyhow, enough about my woes! It's so hard trying to save money when you have a gaming habit/addiction =/ 'specially retrogaming.

Tell me about it. There's always something on ebay that's a good deal. I'd love to just continue buying multiples and open a shop. There's no demand for it in Ireland really though. Explains all the cheap prices on ebay.ie.

Just as a matter of interest, do you eBayers prefer to go for auctions and the thrill of the chase with the added 'ffs'ness of the last minute sniper taking your prize away from you. Or are you more interested in paying a little (or a lot) over the odds for the buy-it-now option?

I'm usually a ffs, I just lost an auction at the last minute guess I'll just pay over the odds for a buy-it-now option, person.

Thrill of the chase every time. I put my max bid in the last 5-10 seconds. So I'm usually that bastard last second sniper ;)

Unless it's super super rare you'll eventually find it again for a cheaper price. Don't get pissed off if you're outbid. It just means it wasn't your deal. You'll ALWAYS get it cheaper.
The only thing I've ever paid more than usual for was animation cels. As they are one off items.

Buy it now should only really be used as a gauge for your maximum bid/price you should be looking to beat. Or idiot sellers who don't know the true value of an item and put it as buy it now stupidly low. Doesn't happen too often though.

I play it safe, I'm a "buy it now" person. Mainly because I use 3v vouchers so I have to make sure that thees enough on the voucher for what I'm buying.
