Does anybody have any idea of the price of anti-viral medicine probably for a six month course prescribed by a doctor?. I'm waiting for blood results and I might need to start budgeting now. Are we talking over €100 a month?.

Without knowing the medication and the dose you will need nobody can give you an answer to your question. The maximum you will have to pay is €144 a month under the Drugs Payment Scheme (including any other prescribed medication you and your partner and children need) and if you aren't already registered for it you could do that while you are waiting.

Any you can claim tax back on the 144 , assuming you pay income tax.

I have the drugs payment scheme card already although I've never had to use it. I'm not looking forward to going to the chemist and being told it's €120 or something. My salary is on the lower end so I might apply for a medical card.
