Found these in the attic over the weekend. Was so impressed when "Telecom Eireann" installed the Aisling :)

Nice one! We had a similar model to the beige and blue ones on the bottom, except red when we got ours installed in 1995.

The Aisling was so sexy and modern - nearly like being in America. :D

Remember the Shannon that came before it? Mine was grey with a black handset and buttons - I think it might have been the first "approved" push button phone. Was nearly worth paying the instrument rental for

Make sure you're not paying Eircom about 2.50 a month 'rental' for every single one of those - the amount of people still paying that when the phone has been paid for hundreds of times over is unreal.

I stopped paying it years ago - didn't realise that charge still existed - could be an expensive phone alright

As I recall it used to be shown as either equipment or instrument rental, directly under line rental. I can't believe anyone might still be paying this but worth checking nonetheless

Equipment rental sounds right. There's a current price tarriff for it on the website so someone must be paying it.

The DSP negotiated to get Eircom to write it off for everyone on the benefits package back when they covered phone allowance; it was a permanent writeoff so that removed a huge amount of the potential customers. They probably should have just nuked the idea at the time but if people are going to pay 25+ quid a year for nothing they'll find it hard to give up!
