I hate Martin. For me, he ruins the show. He's not a bit funny, just awkward and extremely irritating.
I also don't get why Jim is a character when we rarely see much from him?

Really enjoyed the first episode but the second one was rubbish.

Dad is the reason to watch Friday Night Dinner, he is the Homer Simpson of the programme, the character around whom all else revolves. No Martin, no nothing.

I still have not figured out why I find this show hilarious. Maybe it because the characters completely dead pan everything?

Unfortunately I think the script writers will struggle for ideas soon because the format is fairly narrow.
    1) Martin has some scheme or new gadget
    2) Adam and Jonny Goodman fight
    3) Someone is invited to dinner
    4) Jim calls to the door with Wilson and becomes entwined with the plot

If they can keep working off these four fair play to them.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Yup tbh i cant see them going much further with this show. Though last nights episode wasnt the best and leaving out the first one, this season has really struggled, perhaps becoming a little stale.

I think you missed the last episode of this. It was the one with Dad's portrait of Mum, and also Jim sleepwalking.

I forgot how much I enjoyed it, it's been so long since Season 3 aired.

Jason Watkins was very good, though definitely has dropped considerably in quality since season 2 IMO. But still some good giggles in it!

Yeah, first two seasons were fantastic, season 3 was a bit of a let down, but still enjoyable. I laughed out loud at a couple of gags tonight though, so hopefully it's on the up again this season.

I could relate to the two lads' reaction to realising there was a guest joining them for dinner and being annoyed they were given no warning, because my mam has done the exact same thing to me before claiming if she told me there'd be someone else (outside the immediate family) there, I wouldn't have shown up.

I agree with others than Season 3 was weaker than what had gone before, but ep1 of season 4 was pretty good.

Every time Jim flinches from his (completely passive) dog I crack up. Still.

I've watched all this in the last 2 weeks and it's surprisingly hilarious, in that I didn't think I'd like it.

Jim. Oh my god Jim I just find him hilarious. He makes the show along with Dad. :D

Was there only five episodes in series four?

I was at a wedding on Friday night, had series linked it to record so I was looking forward to watching it tonight but nada saved :(

Okay I'm a little bit tipsy and can't count.. Derp :/ plus for some reason they weren't saved in order when I looked back. Oh well!

Definitely not the best season but I got a giggle from it here and there. Nothing will beat the frozen fox episode for me, I'm afraid.

It's such a great sit-com to watch as the scenarios are hilarious - "laugh out loud" quality in both script & talented actors that compares to the likes of:
The Royle Family, Father Ted, Keeping Up Appearances, Fawlty Towers, One Foot In The Grave, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em etc; :)
